INTRODUCTION
In modern times like now, people prefer to use social media, especially in Indonesia, almost
everyone does activities and their activities are immortalized by recording and uploading them
on social media such as YouTube. Based on (Fauziah & Suryani, 2022) this is one of the fastest
growing social media compared to other social media. Until now, YouTube is estimated to have
more than one billion active users worldwide.

According to (Faiqah et al., 2016) YouTube is a popular social media where users can load,
watch, and share video clips for free. Statement (Indarsih and Pangestu 2021) cited
in(Tinambunan & Siahaan, 2022) Youtube as a mass communication medium provides a variety
of information and news needed by everyone so that now it is easier for everyone to find news
because they no longer have to go far out of the house to buy newspapers. Not only that,
YouTube is also often used as entertainment because there are many types of entertaining video
content.

Alexa (In Hastuti D, 2020). Youtube as a website for sharing videos and being the number two
most popular site worldwide, has also become a site that helps increase the popularity of
Indonesian for foreign speakers. Recently, various Youtube video content creators have
emerged, or often referred to as foreign YouTubers who use Indonesian for their video content.
Some foreign speakers not only master Indonesian, but are also able to master regional
languages, for example Javanese, which has a much more complex language construction than
Indonesian.

The use of two languages mastered by YouTubers is an interesting language phenomenon to

study. Code mixing used by YouTubers is spontaneously said unintentionally because it has

become a habit in speaking. According to (Nurhasanah, 2021) Code mixing is considered a

sociolinguistic phenomenon that is very common in bilingual and multilingual societies. As we
know that some Indonesians are monolingual or only speak one language, and there are people
who are bilingual and multilingual who speak more than one language. Therefore code mixing
often occurs in Indonesia. Recalling that Indonesia is a country that has a large territory where
its citizens consist of several tribes, regional languages and also cultural backgrounds.
Moreover, code mixing in Indonesia is often seen on YouTube as a popular video sharing
platform, where everyone is free to upload any video.

One of the Indonesian actors, presenters and YouTubers who often uses code-mixing is Daniel
Mananta, according to (Wikipedia, 2022) he is an actor, presenter and television presenter of
mixed Chinese and Javanese descent in Indonesia --sometimes known as VJ Daniel Mananta.
He is an Indonesian entertainer whose name emerged after winning the 2003 MTV Indonesia
VJ Hunt. And now he is actively uploading videos on his YouTube channel to discuss certain
social issues.

Based on observations from Daniel's video, it was found that he is used to using 2 languages
when speaking. For this reason, the researcher is interested in knowing the code mixing used
by Daniel Mananta in his conversation with Cinta Laura in his video entitled "Cinta Laura
Makes Changes for the Young Generation". Based on the type of code mixing and the
researcher is also interested in knowing the reasons why it occurs.

Therefore, based on the description above, the code mixing used by Daniel Mananta because
he has more than one language, so that there is a combination of languages consisting of two or
more languages in a speech. Code mixing occurs because speakers who use the dominant
language support utterances that are inserted by elements of other languages. This is usually
related to the speaker's characteristics, such as: education level, background.

Hoffman (1991) As quoted (samsi in (Fauziah & Suryani, 2022) ) clarified that the types of code
mixing are :
1. Intra-sentential mixing
Intra-sentential mixing, namely mixing code that occurs in phrases, clauses, or
sentences.
2. Intra-lexical code mixing
Intra-lexical code mixing, namely mixing code that occurs in word.
3. Involving a change of pronounciation
Involving a change of pronounciation, namely mixing code that occurs at the
phonological level.
METHOD
This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method by taking samples from Indonesian
YouTubers, namely, "Daniel Mananta". According to (Walidin, Saifullah & Tabrani, 2015) as
cidet in (Rijal Fadli, 2021) based on Qualitative research is a research process to understand
human or social phenomena by creating a comprehensive and complex picture that can be
presented in words. The research chose one video from an Indonesian YouTuber, Daniel

language element, there are several forms of code mixing. They are in the word form, phrase

2. Phrase
Phrase is a group of words that forms a part of sentence.
Example: Saya pergi duluan, see you. (Saya pergi duluan, sampai jumpa).
3. Clause

endmark.
Example: Kamu seharusnya tahu bahwa health is important. (Kamu seharusnya tahu
bahwa kesehatan itu penting).
4. Idiom

kita menghindari mencari dukungan dalam hal negatif / premanisme).

sedikit).

According to (Nuraeni, Farid, and Cahyati,2018 in Fauziah & Suryani, 2022) The following is a
table of code mixing forms used by YouTube videos from Daniel Mananta which can be
classified as follows:

Based on the results of the data above, it can be seen that the forms of language commonly used
by Indonesian YouTuber Daniel Mananta use words, phrases, clauses, idioms, and researchers
do not use baster and repetition of words in Daniel Mananta's videos. The results of this study
are in line with (Suwito, 1985) cited in(Lisa Nuraeni & Zhafran Farid, 2018) there are several forms
of code mixing, namely: Words, Phrases, Clauses, Idioms, Basters, and Repetition Words. In
addition, the use of code mixing is in line with the theory (Ansar, 2017) as cited in (Fauziah &
Suryani, 2022) Code mixing is a term that refers to the use of one or more languages that are
linguistically consistent from one language to another. (Silaban & Marpaung, n.d.) said that code
mixing in this situation was caused by the absence of these words in the original language so
that speakers needed to use these words for other people because the speaker wanted to show
his ability or knowledge in using English.

CONCLUSION
Code mixing is one language into another language that is used simultaneously without reason,
and usually occurs in a relaxed state. In this study, Daniel Mananta applied code mixing by
including elements of language, English and Indonesian in his videos. In the table above the
researcher will describe the linguistic forms for using Daniel Mananta's Indonesian YouTube
Mix code. The result of the analyzed video is the dominant code, Mix Code. And the researchers
did not find any crossword code and word repetition. The researcher observes the reason they
use code mixing, namely because of daily habits, social environment and difficulty in
expressing their native language.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Alhamdulilahirobbil’alamin, thanks to Allah SWT. Finally the researcher was able to complete
this research. With this, the researcher would like to thank profusely to those who have
supported, motivated, prayed for in working on and completing this research paper, without
everyone's help, the researcher would not have been able to complete this paper.
