This is the most advanced stage of HIV infection, in which
a person's immune system is very weak and has a hard
time fighting infections and certain cancers.

In this phase, severe symptoms develop, such as:


Rapid weight loss
Serious infections
Pneumonia
Recurrent fever
Spots on the skin
Prolonged diarrhea
Sores in the mouth, anus, or genitals
Memory loss
Depression
Other neurological disorders
Anal sex is the most likely way to get HIV
TRANSMISSION FORMS
Vaginal sex relations are the less form that
we can contrarct IHV

Perinatal transmission or mother-to-child transmission is the


most common way that children contract HIV.

Oral sex transmission also occurs when there are open


wounds in any of the tissues in contact.

Pre-chewed food is a rare source of infection, but it is possible in babies. when you
have blood in your mouth that mixes with the food you give the baby pre-chewed.

Bites can cause infection, although the cases presented involved very
large wounds.

The open mouth kiss can infected, only when there is bleeding or open wounds.

TREATMENTS

There is currently no cure for HIV, but


treatments can be used to control HIV.

There are two types of treatment for HIV:


pills and injections.

The pills are recommended for people who


are just starting HIV treatment. There are
many FDA-approved single pill and
combination medications available.

People who have had an undetectable viral


load (or been virally suppressed) for at least
three months may consider getting the
shots.
