UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

Lorensky B. Borlagdan BSA 1-2

LESSON 6: PHYSICAL SELF

1. In your own perspective define what is beauty?
For me, beauty has two types- physical beauty and inner beauty. Physical
beauty is what we show to everyone and it is subjective. Everyone sees physical
beauty differently from each other. Physical beauty depends on how one looks
at it. So, we should not care about what others think of our physical image. We
cannot find beauty in any bottle of beauty products. No matter how many times
we take it or how much we apply it, this will not make us beautiful. We define
our own beauty because we are all uniquely beautiful. As corny as it may sound,
beauty is skin deep and this is what we call inner beauty. What our heart carries,
what we think, our personalities and our intentions are the things that make up
our inner beauty. And this inner beauty radiates confidence which make our
physical beauty glow.

2. Give at least 2 persons in your life whom you consider beautiful and explain
what makes them beautiful.
The two persons I consider beautiful are my mother and myself. For me,
my mother is the most beautiful woman in the world. She was able to show me
that beauty ever since I was born. She has shown me the beauty of being a
strong mother and that’s why I adore her. I also consider myself beautiful
because I love myself. My mother also taught me to always love myself and
always go for what my heart wants because that is self-love. She taught me that
you can see your own beauty if you accepted and love yourself. And that is what
I am doing.

3. Which part of your body do you consider beautiful, explain why?

One part of my body that I truly consider beautiful is my lips. A lot of
people before have bullied me for having thick lips. But ever since I have
accepted what I have and what I am, I no longer care what other people say or
think about me. Every time I see myself in the mirror, I think magic happens
because I really see my lips to be perfect. Maybe because I loved and accepted
what I have and because we define our own beauty.

4. I am Beautiful or Handsome because…

I am beautiful because I know my imperfections and that what makes me
who I am. I am beautiful because I love and accepted those imperfections and I
used that as a fuel to be confident and face the world. And I won’t let anybody
to take away that fuel in me.
