Vehicle Theft Detection and Locking System

This document provides details about a vehicle theft detection and locking system project being developed by students at SNS College of Technology in Coimbatore, India. The system uses fingerprint authentication, GPS tracking, and GSM communication to identify authorized users and send alerts if the vehicle is moved without permission. It aims to prevent vehicle theft by detecting unauthorized access and notifying the owner via SMS. The project will be developed over 6 months, with plans to purchase components, develop a working model, test the system, and analyze results.

REAL WORLD CONTEXT
SMS • The main purpose of this project is protecting vehicle from theft. Now a
day’s vehicle theft are increasing rapidly.
• This paper presents an effective anti-theft vehicle security system which
integrates Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile Co
mmunication (GSM) and Biometrics technologies (i.e. fingerprint) for us
er identification and authentication.

GPS
Fingerprint sensor captures the fingerprint images, matches the unique
ness of each print read by the sensor and compares it to the one stored
TRACKING in its module or local system database.
• A vehicle tracking system that works using GPS and GSM technology, w
hich would be the cheapest source of vehicle tracking and it would work

LOCKING as anti-theft system

SYSTEM
PROJECT DEFINITION
• The proposed system is made up of a biometric authentication unit (i.e. fin
gerprint scanner) which is used for verifying the users of the vehicle by ma
tching the captured fingerprint with predefined fingerprints in the databas
e.
• GPS receiver receives the location data like latitude, altitude and longitude
of a vehicle.
• This data can be transmitted to the mobile device or the user through GS
M network or Wi-Fi.
Project objectives

• The main purpose of this project is to prevent vehicle theft.

• This functionality is achieved by detecting vehicle status in theft
mode and by sending an SMS which is generated automatically.
WORKING

• The vehicle theft detection and locking system using GPS and GSM. The fingerprint is scanned using fingerprint sensor a
nd the database is already stored.
• The fingerprint is matched automatically vehicle in ON condition, otherwise Off condition.
• The fingerprint is not matched to produce the alarm sound using buzzer and also send the notificati on to the owner u
sing GSM communication.
• The GPS used to track the location of the vehicle and also data will be stored in the webpage.
