Introduction
The illustrations demonstrate
how West Park Secondary
School developed/changed
over the period of 60 years
since it was built in 1950.
Overview

Overall, it is clear that the school

underwent/witnessed substantial
changes throughout this period
with the building’s expansion and
the additions of a car park and a
sports field.
Body 1
In 1950, the school had only one
building, adjacent to which were a
few houses in the west. Just behind
the building was the playground,
while the farmland occupied the
south-western corner. After 30 years,
the houses got demolished to
construct a parking lot. In addition,
the school building was expanded in
two different parts, with the smaller
being known as a science block and
the larger being used as the primary
building. While the playground
remained intact, the period
witnessed the conversion of the
farmland into a sports field.
Body 2
Looking at the map of 2010,
the most significant change
was the car park expansion
that covered almost half of
the entire school’s area
including the original place of
the sports fields. This resulted
in the reduced size of the
playground to make way for
the shrunk sports fields.
