About National Institute of Technology (NITW)

National Institute of Technology, Warangal formerly known as Regional Engineering College was
established in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute on October
10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs in the country. The Institute is well known for its
dedicated faculty, staff, and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic
environment. The Institute currently has 14 academic departments and a few advanced research
centres in various disciplines of engineering, pure sciences and management. The Institute offers
eight undergraduate programmes (B.Tech.) in engineering, 29 post graduate programmes (MBA,
MTech., M.Sc. and MCA) in management, engineering, sciences and research programmes in
management, engineering, sciences, humanities and physical education. The institute is well known
for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training
programmes for teachers and industrial personnel.

About School of Management (SOM)

In the contemporary world of rapidly changing global business, which is technology intensive and
consumer oriented, the acumen needed for managers is being revolutionized. Recognizing this, the
institute has designed a comprehensive MBA programme exclusively for engineering graduates.
Thus, came to light the “School of Management (SOM)” at NIT Warangal. The MBA program
offered by the School of Management is a two-year course that runs into eight quarters. The
program has extensive electives in the specialized areas of Marketing Management, Human
Resource Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, Information Technology,
and allied areas of management. The School of Management provides a well-balanced combination
of academic and practical business-oriented content.

About the Workshop

Teaching and research go hand in hand and the quality of research that a researcher undertakes will
improve the quality of research. Research emerged as one of the most important aspects in the
academic pursuits of higher learning all over the world, and it provides the solutions to ever
changing human problems. The proposed programme will improve the knowledge and skills of the
participants to carry out quality research, enhance their ability to apply the right tools and
techniques in conducting research and write research papers. Through this workshop School of
Management, National Institute of Technology aims to prove wide opportunities for social science
researchers’ for improving practical knowledge in research methodology, qualitative data analysis,
and quantitative data analysis skills using statistical software.

Objectives of the Course


This course aims to provide the participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to
conduct scientific research effectively. The participants shall be familiarized with the data
collection methods and shall be able to select appropriate data collection tools, develop
measurement instruments, and ensure data reliability and validity. Different data analysis
techniques including quantitative and qualitative methods shall be introduced and participants shall
learn how to analyze and interpret data using statistical software, qualitative coding and thematic
analysis.
The course further emphasizes ethical considerations in research, including obtaining informed
consent, protecting participants privacy and confidentiality, and conducting research with integrity,
preventing plagiarism. Hand-on training sessions shall be conducted using relevant statistical
software packages, e-library resources, and reference management.
Additionally, paper Clinics shall facilitate fine turning the working research papers of the
participants, the participants would be able to build a quality paper.
Topics to be covered in the Research Methodology Course
• Research concept, types, steps, and review of related literatures.
• Variables, objectives, and hypothesis.
• Population, Sampling, and research tools.
• Quantitative and Qualitative research and types.
• Para-metric and non-parametric test in research.
• Physical experience through field visit.
• Qualitative data analysis and triangulation.
• Research proposal.
• Research reports and publication ethics.

Expected Outcomes of the Research Methodology Course

After completion of the course the researcher will be able to -


• Identify various sources of research problems.
• Recognize various sources and applications of review of related literature.
• Demonstrate and apply skills and competencies of various research methods and process
of research.
• Develop an efficient research-design based on identified variables.
• Identify and select appropriate research tools and techniques.
• Communicate the research clearly and precisely through research proposal, report and
publications.
• Demonstrate reference writing skill in different style.
• Inculcate research and publication ethics.

Eligibility Criteria

The course is meant for only research scholars currently pursuing their M.Phil./Ph.D./PDF in
social sciences disciplines in UGC recognized Universities and research institutes across India are
eligible to apply.

Intake

Maximum of 30 participants will be shortlisted (10 from Local, 10 from within the state
and 10 from rest of India)

Please Note:
1. The selection for the course will be made as per ICSSR guidelines.
2. No leave of any kind is permissible during the course period.

Registration Fees: There is no registration fee for the selected participants.


Accommodation & Travel Allowance

• Accommodation arrangements shall be made for outstation participants on a twin-sharing


basis. Travel costs of participants shall be reimbursed only for second class/sleeper class/bus
fare. There may be a capon travel cost reimbursement depending on the available budget.

form by attaching a signed and scanned copy of registration form (see last page) (the
original registration form should be produced on the first day of Course) and the scanned copy

CERTIFICATE

The participants will be provided certificates on successful completion of the course. It is


mandatory for all participants to attend all the classes (or sessions).

SELECTION

The committee will select the participants on the basis of their research work and write up. The
committee decision on selection of participants is final and binding. Late or incomplete
applications will not be considered.
