Crochet Bookshelf Pattern : The Perfect

Gift for Book Lovers
August 12, 2023

Attention, crochet lovers! I’m super excited to introduce you to my latest creation – drumroll,
please – the one and only Miniature Crochet Bookshelf Pattern!

Imagine a tiny library, meticulously handcrafted with love and care, that fits perfectly on a
desk, shelf, or even a windowsill. This charming crochet creation brings the wonder of books
to life in a new, heartwarming way.

As a fellow bookworm, I couldn’t resist making this the perfect gift for all my fellow book-
loving friends. I mean, who wouldn’t adore a teeny-tiny bookshelf, right?

But here’s the best part – it’s not just a gift. Oh no, it’s like the cutest desk decor ever! I
proudly display it on my own workspace, and it’s pure joy. You won’t believe how this little
creation brightens up my day – it’s like crochet therapy, I tell you!

1/13
Get your hooks ready, grab some yarn, and let’s create the Miniature Crochet Bookshelf
together!

White cotton yarn (worsted- a little thicker than the amigurumi yarns) for the book’s
pages
a 3 mm and 4 mm crochet hooks
DMC threads for the books details
Jewelry craft wire (0,6 mm)
3 wooden craft sticks (popsicle sticks)

Abbreviations

ch: chain

sl st: slip stitch

sc: single crochet

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

tr: treble crochet

inc: increase

dec: decrease

BLO: back loops only

R: Round / Row

Crochet Bookshelf Pattern

The Bookshelf

With your light brown yarn and the 3 mm hook, chain 26.

2/13
Note that every row ends with a ch1 then turn.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 25 sc (25)

Row 2 to 40: 25 sc (25)

Cut yarn and fasten off. The rectangle you get should be around 11,4 cm tall, 8 cm wide. This
will be the “wooden” back panel of our bookshelf.

For the sides panels: chain 9.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 8 sc (8)

Row 2 to 45: 8 sc (8)

Don’t cut the yarn. The rectangle you get should be around 13,3 cm tall, 2,8 cm wide. Make
2 side panels this way.

We will now work the edge of the side panels to make it sturdy. Grab your craft wire, we will
work the edges around the wire (see pictures below). Chain 1 then sc around the rectangle,
make sure to make 3sc in each corner to round them and give them a better shape. Do the
same for the other side panel.

3/13
4/13
Hide the wire under the stitches, when you’re done, cut the yarn and fasten off. The side
panels are longer than the back panel of the book shelf.

Time to sew the side panels to the back one. Hold the the side panel perpendicularly to the
back panel, and sew them together, leaving the edges we just made untouched because it
has to stick out of the shelf, to give it a more realistic look.

5/13
Cut the yarn and weave in all ends when done sewing.

The shelves – Crochet Bookshelf Pattern

With your light brown yarn and the 3 mm hook, chain 7. Note that you should join every
round with a sl st.

6/13
Round 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 5 sc, (4 sc in the last stitch), continue working
on the other side of the chain: 4 sc, (3 sc in the last stitch – it’s the one we started this round
with) (16)

Round 2: 16 sc BLO (16)

From now on we will stop joining rounds with a sl st, we’re working amigurumi style:

R3 to 25: 16 sc (16)

At round 25, join round with a sl st at the end. Insert the wooden craft stick inside the shelf,
cut it to fit in, if needed.

R26: 16 sc BLO (16)

Cut the yarn and fasten off. With a yarn needle, close the hole in a clean way, to reproduce
the same shape as the other side of the shelf (where we started). The shelf should be 7,5 cm
x 2,5 cm, with a thickness of 0,5 cm.

Make 3 of them in total, then sew them in the book shelf.

7/13
The Books – Crochet Bookshelf Pattern

With your amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, ch 11.

Note that every row ends with a ch1 then turn.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 10 sc (10)

Row 2 to 6: 10 sc (10)

Chain 1 then sl st around the book, make sur to make a ch1 in each corner of the book while
slip stitching around. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

The Pages

With your thicker white cotton yarn and the 4 mm crochet hook, ch 4.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 3 sc (3)

Row 2 to 5: 3 sc (3)

8/13
Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Fold the book’s cover in 2 and glue the pages inside (see picture below).

Make a total of 12 books, you can also embellish them with some DMC threads.

The Plant – Crochet Bookshelf Pattern

The Flower Pot

With your amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, make a magic circle.

Note that you should join every round with a slip stitch.

Round 1: 6 sc (6)

Round 2: sc inc x6 (12)

R3: (1sc, inc) BLO x 6 (18)

9/13
R4 to 7: 18 sc (18)

R8: 18 sl st (18)

Cut yarn and make an invisible join for a clean finish. Weave in the ends.

The soil

With your brown amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, make a magic circle.

Round 1: 6 sc (6)

Round 2: sc inc x6 (12)

R3: (1sc, inc) x 6 (18)

Cut yarn and fasten off. Fill slightly the inside of the pot with some fiberfill for stuffing. Slide
the soil inside the pot, and sew it inside.

10/13
The Leaves

With your green amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, chain 6.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, (1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc) in the last
stitch, continue working on the other side of the chain: 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc, sl st in the 1st sc
of the round (11)

Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing. Make a total of 8 leaves, and sew them on the pot this
way: 5 at the bottom, 3 at the top of the other leaves.

11/13
The Picture Frame – Crochet Bookshelf Pattern

With your amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, chain 16 then sl st in the 1st
loop to make a circle.

Round 1: ch 1, 1 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 4 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 2 sc, (3 sc in the
next stitch), 4 sc, (3 sc in the next stitch), 1 sc, sl st in the 1st sc of the round. (24)

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

With a white amigurumi cotton yarn and the 3 mm crochet hook, chain 6.

Row 1: starting the 2nd loop from the hook: 5 sc (5)

Row 2 to 6: 5 sc (5)

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Glue the frame on top of this. Embroider a little heart in
the middle of the frame for decoration.
