In agricultural crop production, the use of farm tools and equipment play vital
Introducti role in making work easier and faster thereby enhance farm productions. However,
even if you may have the most sophisticated tools and equipment, but does not know
on how to use them, they are useless. In order to do crop production operations
successfully, you must have a good working knowledge of the tools and equipment
before using them. This lesson will cover the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to
select and use farm tools, implements and equipment which contributes in making farm
viable and productive. More so, it will teach you how to perform preventive
maintenance in order to efficiently use these farm tools and equipment in longer time.

Read Information Sheet 1.1 Farm Tools in Agricultural Crop Production pp. 9-14,
Information Sheet 2.1 Common Farm Equipment pp. 19-20 and Information Sheet 3.1. Pre-

Operative Check-up of Farm Tools and Equipment pp. 23-24. This will help you to
understand and be familiar with the different examples of farm tools, implements and
equipment according to their uses.

operational check-up of your farm tools and equipment, although time
consuming, will help farm works better. It will be able to detect defects and any
broken parts of tools and equipment thus, ensure safety and further accident.
More so, regular check-up of farm tools and equipment will save money, time
and energy in doing some repairs that may lead to big problems. The following
