Ubod

This document discusses a technology for producing edible coconut vegetative pith or "ubod" through underplanting young coconut palms under adult coconut stands. The key steps are to plant coconut seedlings in holes between full bearing palms, with either one or two palms per hill. After three years, the soft inner pith of the young coconut palms can be harvested as "ubod". Proper disposal of farm wastes is important. The technology aims to increase coconut farm productivity while providing an alternative source of "ubod" without cutting existing productive palms.
