Scaffolding to be erected only by trained personnel and to comply with The Construction (Health, Safety
And Welfare) Regulations 1996
Appropriate PPE to provided and washing facilities to be made available
Fresh air to be blown into the chamber during entry / Air tested before entry
Inlet valves to locked off before entry and recorded/emergency pump to be introduced
Appropriate PPE to provided (ear defenders)
Appropriate PPE to provided (gloves)/ any hypodermic needles to be removed by specialist
Safe means of access and egress to be provided/ rescue plan to be provided in the event of a incident
PPE to be stored in a clean container, also to be cleaned prior and after use
Suitable foot wear to be made available to suit the conditions of the chamber (non slip sole/water proof)

INFORMATION, INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING


Full training required detailing the method of entry and managing the confined space
Rescue surface party to be trained in rescue and emergency procedures, including first-aid
All operatives must be certified as trained, and supervisory staff trained to same standard
Under no circumstances should an operative enter a confined space to make a rescue attempt, leave any
Rescue attempts to the professionals (fire brigade)
