1. Find the values of k for which the quadratic equation 2x 2–kx+k = 0 has
equal roots.
2. If nth term of an A.P. is 2n+1, find the sum of first three terms.
3. Find the next term of the A.P. √ 7 , √28 , √ 63 .
4. Find the zeroes of the polynomial 2x 2+5x–12 and verify the relationship
between its zeros and coefficients.
5. Find a quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes are –5
and 6 respectively.

17. A two-digit number is such that the product of its digits is 20. If 9 is added
to the number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number.
18. A motorboat whose speed is 18 km/h in still water takes 1 hour more to
go 24 km upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the
speed of the stream.
19. A bus travels at a certain average speed for distance of 75km and then
travels a distance 90km at an average speed of 10km/h more than the
first speed. If it takes 3 hours to complete the total journey, find its first
speed.
20. If Sn denotes the sum of first n terms of an A.P., prove that S 30 = 3(S20-S10).
