MECHANICS/GUIDELINES:
1. BIGSAYAWIT is a Tagalized version of the modified jazz chant with a slight twist.
2. As the title implies, BIGSAYAWIT – is a creative conglomeration of:
Bigkas (could be a combination of the following but not limited to chanting, solo speech or speech
choir, etc.)
Sayaw (could be a combination of the following but not limited to interpretative, fast, jazzy, modern,
march, ballroom, ballet, folk, ethnic, tap, hip-hop, etc.)
Awit (could be a combination of the following but not limited to solo, duet, choir, operatic, chanting,
pop, rock, rap, etc.)
3. Only one competition piece (Guro- by: Bayang Barrios) Please see the copy on the next page) shall be used
by all the participating teams.
4. Each team is given a maximum of 5- 8 minutes to present the contest piece in a combination of Bigkas,
Sayaw, Awit (Bigsayawit).
5. BIGSAYAWIT means that the team may play around the piece. They may creatively repeat certain words,
lines or sentences of the given “piece”. Chunking or splicing the piece in between music, dance, or
chanting is allowed. Adding extra music is allowed. Omitting any line of the “piece”, however, is not
allowed.
5. Using the song “Guro” as music is allowed. Contestants may or may not alter the arrangement of the song.
6. Participants are also allowed to bring and use their own material (non-electronic/non-electrical) for
additional sound effects purposes.
7. The competition is open to all education students of participating schools except DLSU-D.
8. Each competing team shall be composed of 15 - 25 members.
9. For every increment of one minute overtime, 1 point shall be deducted from the group’s over-all score. No
deduction shall be made if the team finishes the presentation in less than the allowed time frame.
10. Costumes and props are allowed. The placement of props on the stage shall be included in the time limit.
11. Prizes at stake. The first, second, and third placers shall receive a certificate of recognition for the school.
Certificates of recognition, medals and a cash prize shall be awarded to the winners. Certificate of
participation shall be given to all participating groups and their coaches.
12. An entry form shall be required for submission with group picture together with a certification of
enrollment signed by the Dean or the Registrar. Entry forms shall be submitted on or before Monday,
December 18, 2017 and shall be sent through LBC, express mail, etc. or personal delivery to:
