WELCOME TO SOCIO 102 (GENDER AND SOCIETY)

All the modules for the duration of the course have already been published and
are accessible. As a study guide for the asynchronous sessions, the following
sequence is recommended.

Module 0 : 1st week


Module 1 : 1st week to 2nd week
Prelim Exam : 3rd week

Module 2 : 4th week to 6th week


Midterm Exam : 7th week

Module 3 : 8th week to 11th week


Semi-Final : 12th week

Module 4 : 13th week to 15th week


Final Exam : 16th week

GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION:


Gender and Society is a three-unit course that ignites awareness to the student’s
understanding of our country’s current problems in Gender Inequality, Gender
preferences, and the likes. It equips the students with a broader on their gender roles
as they discern stereotypes and discriminations as dictated by the society. It prepares
the students to be mire gender sensitive in words and in actions as they build a new
society filled with gender responsive individuals.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 Differentiate representations and conceptualization of the self from various
disciplinary perspective.
 Compare & contrast the self has been represented across different disciplines
and perspectives.
 Demonstrate critical and reflective thought in analyzing the development of one’s
self and identity by developing a theory of the self.
 Explore the different aspects of self and identity.
 Identify different forces and institutions that impact the development of various
aspects of self and identity.
 Examine one’s self against the different aspect of self-discussed in class.

EXAM POLICY:
Students must attend all required scheduled exams that make up a final grade at the
appointed time and place.
Additional accommodation will not be made not unless a written request is sent to and
approved by the appropriate Department Head.
Any student who misses a scheduled exam without approval will be given a grade of “0”
for the exam.
