Master of Science and Technology Programs

Personal statement

1. Please explain your motivation and interest in the subject for which you have applied. Which particular areas of the subject
interest you? (Max. 1000 characters including spaces)
I developed interest in IOT while working on our 2nd year mini project where I with my two friends did automation of the house
using an arduino and bluetooth module, controlling of house utility and lightning equipment using smart phones. Industry 4.0 is
the IOT industry and the smart control features and function fascinates me to go deeper and provide innovative solutions in the
huge field of IOT. During my last year we had a subject PLC and SCADA which had implementation of automation and various
communication protocol currently used in indutrail automation our professor told us implemantion of internt of things in
combination with industrials process will be the future this is a main reason which created intrest in the subject IOT.

2. Describe the academic level and qualification that you have gained in this area of study from your previous and/or current
studies. Please highlight the most relevant courses (seminars, lectures) and individual or collective projects that you have
completed. (Max. 1000 characters including spaces)

I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University with a competitive CGPA . During my
bachelors I developed a strong foundation on basic electrical engineering and engineering mathematics. Some of my interesting
courses were smart grid, power quality, PLC,advanced microcontroller and electric vehicles. Due to my interest in energy efficient
transformers I had chosen ‘Solid State Transformers’ as my seminar topic in 6th sem and got an outstanding grade. My final
year thesis project was a funded project by Sparks Electrical Ltd. and was based on ‘Real time monitoring and data acquisition of a
multifunction meter’. Our project was named 2nd best project by NIMA (Nasik Industrial Manufacturing Association). The
purpose of our project is to fetch the data from a multi-function meter and display it on screen or HMI in the most comfortable
format so that one can interpret the data easily.

3. Describe any relevant work experience that you may have in this field/sector (job, internship, voluntary/unpaid work,
assistantship, entrepreneurial activities, student associations, etc.)? How do the responsibilities and skills you have gained from
previous work experience match the program for which you have applied? (Max. 1000 characters including spaces)

I am currently working as an executive engineer in the quality control and testing department at ‘Hind Rectifiers Limited.’ My
work experience is related to testing and troubleshooting of LHB coach switchboard cabinets and locomotive (WAP-7 & WAG-9)
main control and auxiliary control panels. In addition to this I have a good knowledge in thyristor based rectifiers and electrostatic
precipitators. During my graduation, I have also completed an internship at ‘Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission
Company Limited’ 132/33/11kV substation where I was introduced to various types of relays and breakers, types of maintenance,
components of substations, Single line diagram of substation, PLCC and dissolved gas analysis process. I also got an opportunity to
visit and study at Tetra Pak India private limited where I studied electricity supply distribution, air handling unit, electricity
generation using gas generator and vapour absorption chiller.
4. Describe a challenging situation where you had to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills. What was your role and what
was the outcome? You may include non-academic activities such involvement in student organizations, clubs and sports. (Max.
650 characters including spaces)
There were two incidents which I would like to describe.first one is when I was a volunteer at Prayas NGO I with my teammates
were responsible for the arrangement of blood donation camp and sports day. During the sports day I was responsible for managing
the crowd and streamlining the registration process of the participants and suddenly a huge mob of students were there and it was
difficult to handle out the situation but with teamwork and cooperation of participants we were able to streamline the process.
Second one is when I was deputed as an engineer at an express due to a failure of power supply in the train coachand I have to clear
the

5. What are your career goals and plans? How will this program help you achieve them? (Max. 650 characters including spaces)
My career goal is to have a huge contribution in sustainable development and management of electric energy and future mobility
using Internet of things and so, to achieve the same I will be pursuing my masters in Internet of Things: Innovation and
Management. When I think about myself 8 to 10 years down the line, I would be working as a researcher in R&D of a reputed
industry with development of various technologies in the revolution of industry 4.0. I wish to introduce new technological
advancements in future mobility systems by implementing various innovative methods.

6. Please explain what makes you an outstanding candidate for this program. You may list any awards, honors or prizes that you
have received. (Max. 1000 characters including spaces)
I am keenly interested in smart grid and sustainable development and besides that I have done projects during my degree course
track where I was introduced to implementation of IOT in Metering system and home automation. I possess skills regarding my
field of study and experience from work which makes me a good fit for this course. My current research is based on smart metering
infrastructure and microgrids which has direct involvement of IOT. I look forward to finding solutions to the challenges faced in the
smart grid infra and Industry 4.0 by not just being a normal engineer;but the one with a fortunate chance from such a university,
set to make every change in the world, ‘kaizen’ for the society.
