My favourite restaurant

Just round the corner from my grandma’s house is a restaurant called Number 10. Whenever I eat
there now, it brings back great memories of going with her when I was little. It’s a traditional sort of
place – it hasn’t really changed at all. They’ve had pictures of the same international singers on the
walls for as long as I can remember! You can sit outside and watch all the people going past while
you’re choosing from the menu, or there are a few tables inside if you prefer. It’s a really good place
to go if you’re in a hurry, as you’ll be eating within just a few minutes of ordering! I think the same
people have been chefs there for so long, they know exactly what they’re doing. After all, they’re
experts at their job!

Roxie’s is a great restaurant, with a large dining room and also plenty of space for the bands who
come and perform most weekends. There’s also a very beautiful garden. If you want a chance to
enjoy a special meal under the trees, you’ll have to book quite far in advance, as the amazing views
from there are the reasons why most people go to Roxie’s. From your seat, you’ll look out over the
harbour, which is really spectacular. If you’re lucky, you might even see the chefs there, choosing the
fish to cook later. There are always loads of young kids eating as quickly as they can so they can go
and explore the beach, while their parents just want to sit and enjoy the scenery!

The Red House is a restaurant we always go to on special occasions. On my mum’s birthday, for
example, we put on our best clothes and go there for dinner. But it’s not only about the food –
spending time together as a family is just as important to us. Although the café is a long way from
the ocean, it serves all sorts of excellent fish dishes. My mum always orders them, as they remind
her of the things she used to enjoy when she was a child and lived near the sea. The chefs are all
very good, and we love seeing what they’ve put on the menu each time we go back – there’s always
something different. In fact, what I really like is that the chefs cook a range of international dishes, so
eating there is interesting!
D Ana
One of the restaurants I really enjoy going to is The Oasis. What makes it really special for me is the
fact that they have an open kitchen at the back of the restaurant. This means that you get a great
view of your food being prepared, which is always fun. The last time my family and I went there,
we managed to sit near the kitchen – we were lucky as that’s where everyone wants a table! It was
really exciting – everything moves so fast, and there’s lots of noise. People were shouting, or even
singing as they worked! I don’t think I could work somewhere like that, though. The menu is actually
quite limited but it has most of my favourite dishes, so that’s probably why I like it so much. And I
know others do too – people from all over the world come to eat at The Oasis.
