2. GREETINGS – “good morning students/trainees”


3. Introduce your self
“welcome to phil. Academy for technical and vocational skills inc. I’m ryan v. munar trainor in shielded metal arc
welding nc ii”
4. Check the attendance
“before we start our discussion, let me get first the attendance. When I call your name, please raise your right
hand and say present”
5. Administer pre-assessment
- Okay class, first thing you need to accomplish is the 3 pre-assessment tools. The 3 pre assessment tools are
data gathering, use to collect your data and some personal information, self-assessment checklist and pre-
test. The purpose of this tools is to gauge or to measure the level of learning and knowledge of the students.
- Let us first accomplish the DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT. You have 10 mins to accomplish this form. Get
one and pass
 Are you through? Ok, pass your paper.
- Next is the SELF-ASSESSMENT CHECKLIST
o Put check to the statement that best describes you.
o Test is composed of 10 main questions, answerable by YES or NO. time allotment is 10 mins.
- The last one that you need to do is the PRE-TEST. I have here the test questionnaire and answer sheet. Please do
not write anything on the test questionnaire. Write your answer to your answer sheet. You have 10 mins to
answer. Get one and pass…
o Times up! Please pass your test questionnaire together your answer sheet.
o The result of your pre assessment will be given to you later after the orientation.

6. Open your powerpoint – discuss the content of ppt up to the workshop layout (ORIENTATION)
 Close the projector
7. Facilitate learning session

INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT

1. Good morning students/trainees, are you ready for your institutional assessment.
2. Lets check the attendance
3. We will conduct 3 methods of assessment such as written exam, demonstration and oral questioning. In
written exam, you have 30 mins to answer the exam, while in demonstration you have 3 hours and in oral
questioning you have also 30 mins
4. The tools and equipment that you need to your institutional assessment were provided.
5. Lets start the assessment proper, are you ready
6. I have here the written exam questionnaire together with the answer sheet. Please do not write anything in
the questionnaire, write your answer in the answer sheet provided. You have 30 mins. Please get one and
pass.
7. Are you done, ok pass the paper.
8. Lets proceed to room # 2 for your demonstration …..students please stay in the waiting area, once I called
your name, please enter the room be ready for your demonstration …….. (tawagin c partner)
9. Ok, lets proceed to room 3 for your oral questioning. Students please wait at the waiting area, once I call

COC 2 DEMONSTRATION

1. GREETINGS

- good morning everyone. Welcome to Phil. Academy for Technical and Vocational Skills Inc. my name RYAN V.
MUNAR, and I am an accredited competency assessor for SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING NC II.

- I would like to acknowledge the presence of the AC manager__________________________, and TESDA


representative ___________________________.

- they are here not to assess you but to averse the conduct of competency assessment methodology and
procedures.

2. ATTENDANCE

- bago po tau magpatuloy, kukunin kop o muna an gating attendance. Kapag tinawag ko ang inyong pangalan,
ipakita po sa akin ang inyong admission slip at pirmahan ang attendance sheet.

3. Accomplish Self-assessment guide

- nasa kamay ko nap o ang inyong self-assessment guide at nabasa ko na rin poi to. Ayon dito sa inyong self-
assessment guide kayo ay may kakahayan ng i-perform ang lahat ng units of compentency na nakatala sa inyong
kuwalipikasyon.

4. PREPARE THE CANDIDATE

-physical set up/Context of assessment

- nais ko pong ipaalam sa inyo na ang practical work area ay ang inyong magiging holding area, at dito sa
institutional assessment area ang inyong orientation, sa welding laboratory ang inyong demonstration at gagawin naten
sa contextual learning area ang oral questioning.

-materials, tools and equipment

-lahat po ng gagamiting materyales, tools at equipment ay available at nakahanda sa assessment area.

-the purpose of this assessment

- ang layunin po ng assessment na ito ay par po i-qualified kayo or sertipikahan ang inyong kakahayan. Ang ating
assessment ay nakabatay sa competency standard, ito ay para malaman naten kuna ang lahat ng requirements ay
nakamit.

-units of competency

-ngayon po, ako ay magcoconduct ng competency assessment para sa Shielded Metal Arc Welding NCII.
Kaylangang mai-demonstrate nyu ang core compentency

 Weld carbon steel plates and pipes using SMAW


Ang assessment ay nakapokus ditto sa ating unit of compentecy

5. ASSESSMENT METHOD

-mayron po tayong tatlong assessment method na dapat nyong makopleto, ito ay ang

 Written test for 30 mins


 Demonstration for 3 hours
 Oral questioning and interview for 15 mins

- ang role ko po bilang assessor ay mangalap ng ebidensya ng inyong performance at bigyan kayo ng nararapat
na hatol or conclusion ayon sa inyong performance

- para sa demonstration ng task, lahat ng materials, tools at equipment ay nakahanda na, (ito ang gagamiting
mong welding machine, nadito rin ang mga electrode, grinder, etc., mention safety)

- ito po ang kopya ng specific instruction para sa inyong demo, pakibasa po ng mabuti.

- may tanong po ba? If no questions, start the demonstration. if there is a questions, the assessor has to explain
the instructions below.

 Using the materials, tools and equipment, you are required to perform the task within 3
hours. I will be observing you while you are performing the tasks.
 After your demonstration, I will ask you some questions related to your demonstration.
 You may call me when there is a need for me to translate or explain items for
clarification.
 After the questioning portion, I will give you feedback about your performance.
 (remind the candidate to observe safety precautions)
 Any questions/clarifications? If there are no more questions , you may start now. (The
assessor sets the stop watch)

DEMONSTRATION ON GOING

NOTE:

 Observe the candidates carrying out the work activities and take notes. During the observation, start
recording the performance of the candidate using the rating sheet for demonstration.
 While performing the task you must:
 Stop the candidate if accident is imminent
 Keep notes of unusual conditions during the assessment
 Do not interrupt the candidate during the demonstration

ORAL QUESTIONING

- sisimulan nap o naten ang oral questioning. Sabihin nyu lang po kung Malabo or hind naintindihan ang tanong,
uulitin ko po at ipapaliwang nag maayos.

 Use the questioning tool and questions about the demonstration.


 Ask question to verify performance
 Ask question to check the underpinning knowledge of the candidate
 Record on the rating sheet
STATE THE QUESTION ONE BY ONE

7. RECORD AND MAKE DECISION

- During the break the assessor should record the assessment outcome using the rating sheets with
remarks
- Rating sheets are signed by the assessor
- Accomplish the CARS ( Competency Assessment Result Summary) all entries completed
 Qualification
 Signatures and date
 Recommendation for issuance of NC/COC or for re-assessment
- Submit reports/documents to competency assessment center (AC) manager
 Rating sheets
 Accomplished attendance sheet
 CARS

11. PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THE ASSESSMENT

- MR. ___________________(state the name of the candidate), give feedback about the process and the
outcome, give strong points and weak points of the candidate. (SANDWICH METHOD)
YOU PERFORMED THE TASK WITHIN THE STANDARD REQUIREMENTS OF THE
QUALIFICATION. CONGATULATIONS, YOU ARE COMPETENT.
NOTE: present the rating sheet and the CARS to the candidate to affix his signature on the candidate’s signature
portion. This is a proof that he accepts your assessment decision.

 Inform the candidate that the AC manager has to sign on the CARS before the issuance of the claim stub.
 Orient the candidate on the issuance of the national certificate.
 Give a copy of the accomplished competency assessment result summary to the candidate (make sure
that the document is signed by the candidate, assessor and AC manager in the appropriate space then
affix your signature)

12. NOT YET COMPETENT

- If the candidate was found not yet competent say: Mr. (state the name) discuss the process and the
outcome, give the strong points and the weak points then provide the areas for improvement and say:
I am sorry you were not able to perform within the standard requirements of the qualification. You
have to review/practice the activities related to the competency requirements of the qualification
further.
You come back for reassessment or when you feel confident enough that you have acquired the
competence. Don’t worry you will only be reassessed on the part of the activity that you were found
to be not yet competent.

NOTE: give a copy of the accomplished competency assessment results summary to the candidate ( make sure that the
document is signed by the candidate, assessor and AC manager in the appropriate space then affix your signature)
