1 Making the most of your course

In this unit, you will:


l Consider the reasons for studying literature as a subject.
l Discover the structure of the exam papers and coursework in the
Cambridge IGCSE™ and IGCSE (9–1) Literature in English (0475/0992),
Cambridge O Level Literature in English (2010) or Cambridge IGCSE
World Literature (0408) syllabuses.
l Find out the key skills you should aim to develop.
l Learn about the types of questions you may be asked to address.
l Think about how to apply the skills taught in this book to your set texts.

The information in this section is based on the Cambridge IGCSE and IGCSE (9–1)
Literature in English syllabuses (0475/0992) for examination from 2020, the
Cambridge O Level Literature in English syllabus (2010) for examination from
2023 and the Cambridge IGCSE World Literature syllabus (0408) for examination
from 2022. You should always refer to the appropriate syllabus document for
the year of your examination to confirm the details and for more information.

Why use this book?


This book aims greatly to enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of literature.
