Course Description:

Water Supply and Environmental Engineering I is concerned with the

development of sources of supply, water treatment, transmission and
distribution as well as their environmental implications. Lectures include
water demand forecasting, location of a reliable source, preliminary design
and feasibility studies, detailed design and construction, treatment,
transmission, and distribution.

Course Objective:

At the end of the course, students are expected to understand the following;

1. Determine reliable sources of drinking water taking into consideration

the implications of selecting one over the other.
2. Have a very good understanding on how population relates to water use.
3. Understand the design considerations for conventional drinking water
facilities.
4. Understand the unit treatment processes (Coag., Sed., Floc., Filt.,
Disinfection, T&D) in water supply engineering.
