Why Salesforce?
• Salesforce provides you with the fastest path
from Idea to App. This can save you years of time
and millions of dollars.
• Salesforce customers generally say that it’s
unique for three major reasons:
• Fast – Traditional CRM software can take more than a
year to deploy, compare that to months or even
weeks with Salesforce.
• Easy – Salesforce wins in the easy to use category.
• Effective – Because it is easy to use and can be
customized to meet business needs, customers find
Salesforce very effective.

What is CRM?
• Every company is selling products/services to
manage the interactions with customer, so a
company need marketing team, sales team,
service team.
• An application which helps in managing all these
processes in a single window is called CRM.
• Apart from this, CRM provides:
1. Targeting your leads, contacts and opportunity
management.
2. Product planning, manufacturing and shipping of
products.

Multi-Tenant Architecture of
Salesforce
• The multitenant architecture
means one common application for
multiple groups or clients.
• One server instance will be shared by
multiple groups or clients.
• Economical: resources and
maintenance cost is shared.
• Vendors need to update only one
applications and changes will be
reflected for all clients.
• Single database stores data of multiple
clients.
• Sharing rules enforced by governor
limits.
19
Meta-Data Architecture of
Salesforce
• metadata means data about the data
• Salesforce uses a metadata-driven
development model
• Functionalities of an app are defined as
metadata in a database.
• Allows developers to concentrate only
on building the application.
• Includes processes, assignment rules,
sharing & security settings, Visualforce
pages & apex triggers
• Stores page layouts for: accounts,
contracts and Leads.
As we can see in the above diagram, the tenant-specific data ensures that common
data is only shared with one tenant, not with another tenant or group. This ensures the
security of the data even in the shared database. 20
