1. Discuss, in 100 words or less, the role of the youth in nation building through NSTP.

The major goal of the NSTP law is to foster youth participation in nation building.
It tries to inspire young people to become more civic and/or military leaders and volunteers
who may be called upon by the government if their service are required. The civic welfare
training service is geared toward activities that have social impact by contributing to "health,
education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and of citizenry," so the CWTS
components of NSTP emphasize the importance of youth participation in broad programs or
activities that will benefit the people. Unlike the CWTS, witch concentrated on the initiatives to
improve people's living situations, the other part of NSTP which is Literacy Training Service's
goal is to "educate students to become instructors of literacy and numeracy skills to school
children, out of school youth, and other segments of society in need of their service”. The goal
of the law and of the program is to harness the strength and capacity of the youth to contribute
to nation-building, thus the National Service Reserve Force was created to enlist CWTS and LTS
graduates which is also equivalent to the Citizen Armed Force of the ROTC.
2. Illustrate a diagram that will explain the legal bases and chronology of events in the
passage of the RA 9163 (NSTP Act of 2001).
