SAP Agile Methodology

The document discusses SAP Activate, a project management methodology used to implement SAP S/4HANA. It describes SAP Activate as adopting aspects of Scrum to enable quick adaptation and adoption of SAP's quarterly innovations. SAP Activate replaces previous implementation methodologies ASAP 8.0 and SAP Launch with a hybrid approach utilizing frameworks, tools, accelerators, checklists and playbooks. The document then outlines SAP S/4HANA transition roadmaps for new implementations, system conversions, and selective data transitions.

Project Methodology

SAP Activate is a project management methodology used to implement SAP S/4HANA. It’s adopted from Scrum, which is capable of
1 quick adaptation and makes it easy to adopt quarterly innovations from SAP and expand the solution footprint

One of the key challenges in the traditional implementation approach was a “big-bang,” large, and complex implementation of business
2 functionalities led by IT. SAP Activate, on the other hand, to overcome the challenge, enables a business-driven, self-service approach
with frequent innovations

Before SAP Activate, the two implementation methodologies were ASAP 8.0, which was used for on-premise
3 implementations, and SAP Launch, which was used for cloud implementations

SAP S/4HANA Transition roadmaps

New implementations

System conversions

Selective data transition

Presentation By Aditya Challa 9

New implementations?
Greenfield implementations in which the client isn’t on SAP and wants to implement SAP S/4HANA. Data migration from non-SAP systems to the industry-leading, intelligent, simplified,
and ready-to-run business processes on S/4HANA may be a key component of greenfield implementations. A new implementation is also applicable if the customer wants to reengineer
their current processes based on the current innovations

System conversions ?
This roadmap will provide the path, tools, accelerators, and other artifacts when a client is on an SAP system such as SAP ERP 6.0 on SAP HANA or on another database (from this
point referred to as any DB) and wants to move their ERP system to SAP S/4HANA. These are also known as brownfield implementations

Selective data transition
The most complex scenario is when a client wants to consolidate their existing ERP systems, including functionality transformation, consolidation of global business units, or simply
retiring an outdated ERP system into a new SAP S/4HANA instance. This transition approach balances the need for innovations and the historical data migration

Guided Configuration

The SAP solution builder tool is the first step of

guided configuration, which allows you to activate
the best practices. Within the SAP solution builder
tool, processes are modeled as scope items. You
can develop and structure configuration content
based on the industry model

SAP Activate is a common methodology to implement on-

cloud or on-premise, the tools for guided configuration vary
based on the chosen landscape—cloud or on premise. In
simple terms, guided configuration is your personal assistant
that will help you configure the system. For SAP S/4HANA
Cloud, it also helps in managing the lifecycle of the
preconfigured business process. However, guided
configuration behaves differently for on-premise
SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud versions

Guided configuration, the second pillar of SAP Activate, supports

SAP S/4HANA implementations by providing a framework,
accelerators, playbooks, checklists, tools, and many other assets

Modular, Scalable, and Agile

With SAP Activate, the projects are structured to

deliver solutions directly. It’s an agile implementation
methodology that will help the customer adapt
quickly to the rapid development cycle. To facilitate
customer co-innovation, the whole approach has
been modularized, with full support for initial
deployment and con-tinuous business innovation

had concepts of quality gates, with SAP Activate, formal risk and quality management with a structured quality
management plan and predefined quality gates are built into the project from the start
