Clutch Switch: Components

This document provides instructions for removing and installing a clutch switch that is part of a vehicle's cruise control system. The clutch switch detects whether the clutch pedal is engaged or disengaged. To replace the switch, various interior panels must be removed for access. When installing the new switch, it is adjusted so that a threaded portion contacts a cushion and the specified torque is applied to the lock nut. Electrical connectors are also reattached during installation.

(a) Remove the bolt and remove the instrument panel
side bracket.

11. SEPARATE MAIN BODY ECU (DRIVER SIDE J/B)


(a) Remove the 2 nuts and separate the main body
ECU.

12. REMOVE CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY


(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Loosen the nut and remove the clutch switch
assembly.

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT CLUTCH SWITCH
(a) Remove the clutch switch.
(b) Measure the resistance and check that the results in
accordance with the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
Switch pin released
1-2 (Clutch pedal 10 kΩ or higher
depressed)
Switch pin pushed in
1-2 Below 1Ω
(Clutch pedal released)

Pushed In Released If the result is not as specified, replace the clutch


switch.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Fully loosen the lock nut of the clutch switch
assembly.
(b) Adjust the clutch switch until the threaded portion

Cushion comes into contact with the cushion. Tighten the
lock nut and ensure that the threaded portion is in
contact with the cushion.

Torque: 15 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf)
(c) Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL MAIN BODY ECU (DRIVER SIDE J/B)
(a) Install the main body ECU with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf)

(a) Install the instrument panel side bracket with the
bolt.
Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf)
