Introduction
These release notes contain supplemental information about the General Availability release of Rubrik CDM
version 7.0.

New features
Rubrik CDM version 7.0 has new features.

Feature Description
Rubrik Edge to Rubrik Edge Rubrik Edge nodes with 30 TB capacities are now valid Rubrik Edge replication
replication support targets. Rubrik Edge nodes with other capacities cannot be specified as Rubrik
Edge replication targets.
Selective Throttling Replication throttling can be overridden on a specific network relationship. For
example, when replication network traffic is throttled on a cluster, outgoing
traffic from that cluster to all replication traffic is throttled. This feature
enables throttle overrides for specific replication targets.
Improved onboarding Streamlined the workflow to register and set up a new Rubrik cluster setup
with Polaris.
SDFS BRIK awareness Third-party hardware platforms now have Brik awareness.
RHEL/SUSE on PowerPC PowerPC hosts running the RHEL or SUSE Linux distributions now support
fileset support filesets.
AHV pre and post backup AHV virtual machines now support scripts to run before and after taking a
scripts backup snapshot.
Nutanix segmented data Nutanix virtual machines can use a segmented volumes network to isolate
services support Rubrik backup traffic to a separate network.
AHV exclude disk Individual virtual disks can now be excluded from Nutanix virtual machine
backups.
Nutanix/AHV Live Mount Customers can create a Live Mount from a snapshot of a Nutanix virtual
machine. Such a Live Mount can also migrate to a Nutanix storage container.
Oracle RAC Backup Backup operations from a RAC to a Rubrik cluster can now use all nodes on
Distribution the cluster.
Data Guard Member Node Archive logs can now be deleted on all the members of Data Guard according
log deletion to the host log retention policy configured for the Data Guard database.
PowerStore support Enables support for the Dell EMC PowerStore feature with array-integrated
VMware virtual machine backups.
VMware restore operations Enables HotAdd transport mode for export operations for increased export
performance improvement performance.
Faster Hyper-V backups Hyper-V backup and restore performance is improved and storage space is
reduced through cross-deduplication. Existing Hyper-V virtual machine backups
taken with versions of Rubrik CDM earlier than 6.0 require a one-time action
to benefit from this improvement. Knowledge base article 000006461 provides
more details.
AWS S3 PrivateLink endpoint Enables access to specific S3 API endpoints for archiving, overriding the
support default endpoints determined by region selection.

Immutable Archives for AWS Enables immutability for AWS S3 archive locations.

Log backup for Oracle and SLA Domains that protect Oracle and SQL Server databases can now specify
SQL Server in SLA Domain log backup configurations. Existing log backup configurations will be migrated
into the SLA Domain for centralized management of database and log backup
configuration files. The databases with log configuration files that do not
match the SLA Domain will be retained and still managed by the SLA Domain.

Hyper-V Live Mount support The SCVMM console can now manage a Live Mount of a Hyper-V virtual
for SCVMM machine.
vCD option to retain MAC The Rubrik CDM web UI provides the ability to retain MAC addresses for vApps
Addresses and templates being recovered.
vCD 10.3 support VMware Cloud Director support extended to version 10.3.
Trusted SSL-TLS interception Support for Trusted SSL-TLS interception added to Rubrik CDM. Trusted SSL-
TLS interception uses proxy servers to allows secure or trusted inspection of
SSL-TLS encrypted network traffic.
CloudOn support for CentOS/ CloudOn conversion now supports virtual machines on AWS or Azure running
RHEL 7.9 CentOS/RHEL version 7.9.

Known issues
Some known issues exist for Rubrik CDM 7.0.

Ticket Issue
CDM-300121 Deleting the administrator account of a tenant organization without deregistering the Envoy
virtual machine causes an inconsistent web UI experience when that virtual machine is
redeployed in a different tenant organization.
CDM-305085 In rare cases, the failover process in AppFlows may not successfully start one or more of
the recovered virtual machines. Manual consolidation of the impacted virtual machines may
help. Technical notes provides further information.

Release 7.0.2 new features
Rubrik CDM version 7.0.2 has new features.

Feature Description
Improved auto upgrade Auto-upgrade of Rubrik Backup Service now provides additional package
capabilities for Rubrik Backup management features, including: package version update, retention of
Service local cron settings and custom agent scripts, and maintaining the UUID,
permissions, and keys from the prior version. Also, this version adds auto-
upgrade for Oracle, SAP HANA, and Rubrik Envoy.
Enhanced support for Added support for sorting and filtering vSphere virtual machines based on
multiple tags on VMware multiple tags, instead of just a single tag.

Support for Glacier Instant Rubrik CDM now supports the Glacier Instant Retrieval tier for archival data on
Retrieval Tier Amazon S3.
CloudOn support for CentOS/ CloudOn conversion now supports virtual machines on AWS or Azure running
RHEL 8.4 CentOS/RHEL version 8.4.
CloudOn support for Rubrik CloudOn now supports the Windows 2019 operating system.

Two-Person Rule Cluster configuration changes and operations can require approval from a user
with a specific approver role in order to proceed.
Download snapshots from Backups that are not locally available but that have been replicated to
replication target another Rubrik cluster can be downloaded in order to perform a local restore
operation.
Linux host systemd support Installations of the Rubrik Backup Service (RBS) on Linux hosts support
of RBS systemd.
CDM Service Accounts Enables the generation of short-lived (24 hour) API tokens used by dedicated
user accounts for scripted automation.

vCenter Diagnostics Tool

The vCenter Diagnostics tool introduced in Rubrik CDM 7.0 has been deprecated in Rubrik CDM 7.0.1.

Deprecation of SnapDiff API versions 1 and 2

Rubrik provides Rubrik CDM integration with SnapDiff v1 and SnapDiff v2 for customers with Rubrik CDM
accounts that were created before the GA release of Rubrik CDM version 7.0.1. Customers with Rubrik CDM
accounts created on or after the date of the GA release of Rubrik CDM version 7.0.1 are provided with Rubrik
CDM integration with SnapDiff v3 but NOT with Rubrik CDM integration with SnapDiff v1 and SnapDiff v2.

vCenter Server connectivity issues with TLS versions prior to 1.2

In Rubrik CDM 7.0, upgrading the OpenJDK version removes support for TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1. Support for
TLS version 1.2 was added to vCenter Server in release 5.5U3e. Upgrading to Rubrik CDM 7.0 will result in an
inability to connect to a vCenter Server running a release earlier than 5.5U3e.

Unsuccessful failover process in AppFlows

In rare cases, for AppFlows running on Rubrik CDM 7.0, the failover process may fail to start some of
the recovered virtual machines. When this happens, the web UI provides the messages "Virtual Machine
Consolidation Needed" and "Unable to access file since it is locked." To work around this issue, you can
manually consolidate the virtual machines that did not start. To do this, in the vSphere UI, right click each
virtual machine and click Snapshot > Consolidation.

Required registration for new Rubrik clusters

All new Rubrik appliances, third-party appliances, Rubrik Edge, and Rubrik Cloud Cluster deployments running
Rubrik CDM 7.0.2 or higher require registration with Rubrik Security Cloud following cluster bootstrap.

Oracle Active Data Guard bug

A known bug in Oracle databases causes the DEST_ID value in the v$archived_log view to print an incorrect
ID.
In an Active Data Guard configuration that produces a backup from a standby database, the DEST_ID value in
the v$archived_log view prints an incorrect ID. This error causes the Rubrik cluster archive log backup to fail,
resulting in a break in the snapshot recovery chain.
Oracle describes this issue and provides a potential solution in article #9002767 on the Oracle support site
(requires an Oracle account to log in). You can download patch 900276 for Oracle version 19.14 from the
Oracle support site to resolve the bug.
This bug is fixed in Oracle version 21c.
For other Oracle database versions, contact Oracle support directly to request version-specific patch.

Rubrik CDM 6.0.x to 7.0.x upgrades and Rubrik Envoy

Redeployment of all new Rubrik Envoy virtual machines is required immediately following an upgrade from
Rubrik CDM 6.0.x to Rubrik CDM 7.0.x.

Previously registered hosts need to be re-registered to show as connected in the Rubrik CDM. The Rubrik
Backup Server (RBS) client software does not need to be reinstalled.

Removal of Rubrik CDM UI proxy support for Rubrik Envoy

Rubrik CDM UI proxy support is not available for Rubrik CDM 7.0 and higher. To facilitate management access
to client networks, Rubrik recommends using a load balancer or a Rubrik CDM floating IP exposing TCP/443
into a shared DMZ.

Multiple networks passing Rubrik Envoy traffic

Beginning with Rubrik CDM 7.0, Rubrik Envoy communication is determined using the IP configuration
information registered with the cdm_nat_address command. If no configuration is specified, Rubrik Envoy uses
the IP addresses associated with the CDM management network.
Rubrik Envoy set up is currently limited to a single IP and port address per Rubrik CDM node. Rubrik Envoy
ingress to Rubrik CDM using different Rubrik CDM networks is not supported in Rubrik CDM 7.0.

download a VMware snapshot from an archive or a replication target.
• Added OracleDatabase and Mssql as two new keys in LogConfigMap for storing Oracle and MSSQL log
SLA configuration in the SLA definition.
• Added new field shouldUseHotAddProxy in ExportSnapshotJobConfigV2 to support export virtual disk
data in HotAdd transport mode.
• Added new optional field shouldEnableHotAddProxyForOnPrem to the VcenterConfigV2 object
