Very good. Let us give ourselves a kokak

clap.

B. Lesson Proper

Did you enjoy our game earlier? Yes, teacher

Wo among you knows how to play (The students who likes to play
basketball? And where to play it? You basketball will raise their hands)
can raise your hand.

Okay, so for some who had experiences You need a Ball and a Court
playing basketball, what did you observe
about the things that you need in
playing?

Very Good, so today we will discuss the

Facilities and Equipment of Basketball.

Are you ready, students? Yes, teacher

First, we should know the facilities for
playing basketball.
Now, do any of you already see facilities Yes, teacher
when you watch or play basketball?

Okay, so now we will discuss the court

dimensions of basketball

Now we will start with the Size of the

Court.

The size of the basketball court depends

on the playing level.

When we say playing level we're talking

about the level of the players if they are a
beginner player, intermediate player and
advanced player.

The court size for the NBA and College

games is 94 feet long and 50 feet wide. It
is smaller for High School and Junior
High competitions.

Next are the Basketball Backboards and

Rims. The Backboard in Basketball these
are flat elevated vertical boards with
mounted baskets, or rims, used to assist
or return basketball after a shot in a
game of basketball.

These are most commonly made of

Plexiglass or tempered glass; backboards
are designed to prevent shattering when
a player dunks.

Backboards are 6 feet wide (72 inches)

by 42 inches tall, with the inner square
being 24 inches wide by 18 inches tall.

The rim in basketball is a metal circle

which the ball must go through in order
for a point to be scored.

The regulation height above the ground

for the rim (hoop) is 10 feet, and the rim
is 18 inches in diameter.

The net is attached to the bottom of the

rim and hangs below and behind the rim
is the backboard. This creates what we
know as the basketball hoop.

Now, any basketball court has various

lines marking different parts of the
basketball court, and each line has its
own specific role in the way a basketball
game is played.

So now we should further discuss these

different line markings in basketball
court so first is baselines.

The baselines, also known as end lines,

are located on the ends of the court. The
baselines denote inbounds and out of
bounds on each side of the court.

If the ball goes out of bounds across the

baseline, players will stand behind the
baseline and to the side of the backboard
to inbound the ball. Baselines are 50 feet
long.
Next is the Sidelines. On the sides of the
court are the sidelines. Like the
baselines, the sidelines mark the
boundaries between inbounds and out of
bounds.

If a player steps on these lines or crosses

them, he is out of bounds. Behind the
sidelines are where the benches and
scorer's table are located, home to the
head coach, players, officials, and media.

The sidelines are 94 feet long.

Next is the Boundary Lines. The

sidelines and baselines make up the
perimeter of a basketball court. Together,
the form the boundary lines dividing the
court between inbounds and out of
bounds.

If the ball or a player possession of the

ball touches any boundary line, they will
be called out of bounds, and the ball will
be given to the opposing team.
The boundary lines measure 94 feet
(sidelines) by 50 feet (baselines).

The Free Throw Line, also called as the

foul line, is used by players during free
throws when a player is fouled while in
the shooting motion, after a technical
flagrant foul, or when a team is in the
bonus.

If awarded a free throw, a player will

stand behind the foul line and shoot an
uncontested shot that is worth one point.

The foul line in basketball is the line

directly in front of the hoop where foul
shots (free throws) are attempted.

Free throw lines are 12 feet in length.

They are 15 feet from the backboard and
19 feet from the baseline in the NBA.

Next is the Lane lines. The lane lines are

two lines that perpendicularly attach to
the baselines and free throw lines.
The rectangular area created by the free
throw line and two-lane lines is usually
painted and referred to as either the
"key" or the "paint".

Players are not allowed to stay within

this area for more than three seconds, or
they will be called for a violation.

The Mid Court Line. This line is located

in the middle of the court and divides it
equally into two pieces. It is also known
as the half court line.

The mid court line is used to equally

divide the court and to call backcourt
violations, which happens when a team
with possession crosses mid-court and
brings the ball into their side of the court
without the other team touching it.

Next is the Three-Point Line. The three-

point line, or three-point arc, surrounds
each team's basket. It is used to
determine how many points a field goal
is worth.
A team will earn two points if the shot is
taken on or inside the three-point line
and goes into the basket.

If a shot is taken outside the three-point

line and goes into the basket, a team will
earn three points.

It is important to note that the distance

between the three-point line and the
basket varies depending on what level of
basketball is being played. The NBA
three-point line is the furthest away,
followed by FIBA, the WBNA, and College
basketball. Lastly, the high school three-
point line is the closest.

The size of the three-point line in NBA is

23 feet, 9 inches. In FIBA, WBNA, and
College the size is 22 feet 2 inches. and
in the Highschool the size is 19 feet , 9
inches.

Next is the Restricted Area. The

Restricted Area (also known as the
restricted zone or restricted arc) is a
semicircle located under the basket, with
a four-foot radius in the NBA.

In college basketball, the restricted area

is slightly smaller and has a radius of
three feet. Highschool and lower levels of
basketball don't have a restricted area
marked on the court.

In this area, offensive charging fouls are

not called. A defender inside or on the
restricted area is not considered a legal
guarding position and cannot draw a
charging foul from their opponent.

And now the Last is the Hash Marks.

The hash marks are small lines
connected to the lane lines. They run in
rows towards the basket on either side of
the free throw lines.

These lines denote where the non-

shooting payers should stand during a
free throw. Only three players on each
side of the painted area are permitted to
stand within the hash marks during free
throws.

Players are not allowed to encroach

inside of the hash marks, as this could
interfere with the player taking the free
throw.

So, these are the facilities used for

playing basketball.
Do you understand students?
Very good, let’s give him/her five claps.

Okay, if you really understand, can you Yes teacher

give one facility in basketball?

Now we will go to our next discussion (The students will then give 1 facility in
which is the equipment used in playing basketball)
basketball.
Children will clap 5 times.
The first equipment is Ball

The size of the ball must match the

conditions of the game.

The sizes basketball that suit the class

are:
Ball size 7 for ages 14 up to boy seniors
Ball size 6 for ages 14 up to girl seniors
Ball size 5 for boys and girls aged 15 and
under

The ball material is made of rubber and

covered by synthetic leather or it can be
rubber

Ball weights are in the range of 600

grams to 650 grams.

The pressure on the ball ranges from

4,26 to 4.61 psi and if it is bounced from
a height of 180 cm to the floor then the
ball will bounce to a height of 120 cm to
140 cm (not to exceed 140 cm).

The second equipment is Player

Uniforms
Each basketball player from each team
must wear a uniform so that when the
game takes place there will be a
difference between teammates and
opponents.

Besides that, uniforms will also make the

team more solid and look attractive when
playing generally, basketball uniforms do
not have sleeves on the shirt and the
length of the pants is only up to the
knees, all of which aims to facilitate the
player's movement.

This is the list of player uniform:

- Basketball shoes

- Basketball short

- Basketball Jersey
- Basketball Socks

- Basketball Bag/backpack

The third equipment is Basketball Ring

Ring basket consists of a ring and a net.
The rings were made of hard iron and
the diameter of the rings was 45
centimeters. The ring height is 305
centimeters from

The floor surface and is installed on the

surface of the basketball board with a
distance of 15 centimeters. Meanwhile,
the net is hung from the ring, with a net
length of 40 centimeters.

The fourth equipment is Basketball

Board

Basketball boards are generally made of

wood or plastic glass. The basketball
board is made of 3 cm thick wood or of a
suitable transparent material, such as
acrylic or plastic glass. The basketball
board is 180 centimeters long and 120
centimeters wide

The board is 275 centimeters high from

the floor surface to the bottom of the
board and is 120 centimeters
perpendicular to the distance from the
center point of the finish line of the
courts.

And now we already discussed the

facilities and equipment of Basketball, do
you have any questions? Any
clarification?
