2. Write a short paragraph on why you chose this hotel? (about 30 words – 7
minutes)
I came across this Ardilaun hotel when I was browsing in the net for hotels in Ireland
last year. I was attracted to its description which was stated as a luxury
accommodation in a tranquil setting with beautifully landscaped gardens
surrounding it. Besides that, it also includes a 24 hour check in, which will be
needed by my family and I. On top of that, links to public transport can be found
on hotel's doorstep, just across the street, which will be very, very helpful to new
visitors like us.
3) Write a short paragraph about 50 words (10 minutes) about why holidays are
good for people.

Holidays are good for people because generally human beings need some kinds of
changes in their life after spending so long in one particular area in the world or
country. Having been stranded for so long in one place could be very tiring and
bored for some people. That is when one needs to be on holidays, but, it is not
necessary for those people to travel out of their respective country and spends lots
of money, they can also travel for a short trip from one side of their country to
another side, just to enjoy the journey, get fresh air and views, to relax their minds
and body, to release the stress out of their lives and to break the boredom from the
same view and environment.

4) A. Informal email (50 words–10 minutes) Write to your friend complaining

about your holiday.
B. Formal email (120-150 words – 20 minutes) Write to the manager of the Amazing
Hotels in Jakartaexplaining why you weren’t satisfied with the hotel and offer a

Subject: Rip-off hotel!

Hey Susan,
How’s it going?

So much for the Amazing Hotel! One hour from the airport, my foot!! It took us 3-hours!
And another thing - the shopping centre’s miles away and they don’t organise tours.
And to top it all off – the food at the restaurant was rubbish.
We wouldn’t have stayed there if we had known how bad it was going to be.

They really need to update their website.

Cheers
Pam

Subject: Incorrect Information on Website

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about our visit to your hotel in April. We found the information on your
website incorrect and misleading.

The website states that your hotel is an hour’s drive from Soekamo-Hatta International Airport but it
took us nearly three hours to reach the hotel even outside peak hours.

The Bloc-M Square shopping centre is also much further away than the advertised 5-minute walk. My
elderly father found the 20-minute walk in the heat exhausting. Had we known, we would have taken
a taxi.

We were also very disappointed with the limited choices available in the restaurants, with no Betawi
snacks or Asian food available.

Finally, because of the closure of the hotel travel desk, we had to organise our trips through an
outside company, which meant added expense and loss of time.

I strongly urge you to update the information on your website so that other travellers are better
informed.

Yours sincerely,
Pamela Anderson.Word Count: 154.
