Teachers: Mrs Jaghmoun / Mr Bacha

Full name: ……………………………………………………….……………………… Class : 9th B………Number : ……..

THE TEXT

(1) The other day as I was waiting for the traffic light to change in
downtown San Francisco, there was a homeless guy. He was walking
around with his sign. He went from car to car. The cars reacted as they
usually do, just closing the windows and ignoring him. When he came to
my car, I looked him in the eye and I gave him a huge smile. – «I’m sorry,
I can’t give you money». «It's ok, madam! Thank you anyway! » – He said
to me.

(2) There was probably a 10-second pause before the lights turned green
and he could have gone to some other cars. Yet he just stood there smiling
at me. I was still smiling back at him myself. Then as I was driving my
car, he stood there. He kept the smile on, then he waved me goodbye and
I waved back. There was something so pivotal in that moment. I literally
cried as I drove away and it hit me so hard!

(3) The more we treat everyone like humans and give them a simple act of
kindness from the heart, the better we will be as people! If you can't give a
beggar on the street some money, then give him a smile instead.
