1 Garis besar materi yang dipelajari
1. Analytical Exposition is a text that elaborates
the writer's topic or idea critically about one
side of a phenomenon or situation. This text is
included in argumentative text because it
shows an opinion (argument) against
something. It social function is to convince the
reader that the topic presented is an important
topic to discuss. It is intended by the
writer/speaker to persuade the audience that
his/her idea is indeed an important issue, and
to analyse the topic that the thesis/opinion is
correct by developing an argument to support
it.

2. Hortatory Exposition is a type of spoken or written text


that is intended to explain the listeners or readers that
something should or should not happen or be done. In
Hortatory Exposition, there are some opinions about
certain things to reinforce the main ideas of the text.

3. Explanation is a piece of non-fiction writing explaining


an action process or event in a detailed but simple way.
It features numbered points, time connectives, pictures,
diagrams, labels and captions to help the receiver
understand the process of what's being delivered.
Explanation text is to say 'why' and 'how' of the
forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science,
geography and history text books. It comprises three
main parts:

4. Discussion text is a text which presents a problematic


discourse. It's all about presenting various viewpoints
and arguments, so that readers can understand the
different aspects and make their own informed
decisions. This problem is discussed from different
points of view. It presents pro and contra opinion on
certain issue.
