For chemical anchoring the chemical supplier – finex engineering

Method statement for chemical anchoring

1. Drilling of hole with an electrical drill to the diameter and depth required
2. Drill hole diameter must be accordance with anchor size.
3. The drill hole must be cleaned with a blow pump or by compressed air, starting from the
bottom of the hole.
4. The drill hole must be thoroughly cleaned with the special steel brush. Brush at least 2
times. The diameter of the brush must be larger than the diameter of the drill hole. After
brush, to use blow pump to clean the drill hole. At least 2 times cleaned.
5. Inject the adhesive into the hole starting from the bottom, while slowly drawing back
the static mixer. In any case avoid entrapping air. For deep holes extension tubing can be
used.
6. Insert the anchor with a rotary motion into the filled drill hole. Some adhesive must
come out of the hole. Important – the anchor must be placed within the open time
7. During the resin hardening time the anchor must not be moved or loaded.

Repair solution for wall cracking
a. Cracks along the masonry wall beam joints – active joints to allow movement where
50% movement accommodation factor is required.

I. For internal surface

1. Cracks which identified to be active should be treated with a flexible paintable sealant,
which accommodates the relative movements. Following will briefly explain the rectification
procedure.

2. Enlarge the crack by cutting a v shaped groove of 10mm width and depth of minimum 5mm

3. Clean the gaps thoroughly to get rid of any dirt, loosely boned mortar and dust trapped in
between.

4. Sealant with paintable and flexible properties should be used to fill the groove. Acrylic
sealant can be recommended which is non fire rated and Nullifier FS 702 fire rated acrylic
paintable sealant for fire rated applications. If the depth of the gap is more than 5mm, use a
backer rod for bridging the gap to maintain the depth to width ratio of 1:2

5. Let the gap filler to harden for a time period specified by the manufacturer.

6. Paint the required area to match the colour of surroundings.

I. For external surface

1. Cracks which identified to be active should be treated with a flexible paintable sealant,
which accommodates the relevant movements. Following will briefly explain the rectification
procedure

2. Enlarge the crack by cutting a v shaped groove of 10mm width and depth of maximum 5
mm. follow this method for both sides of joint.

3. Clean the gaps thoroughly to get rid of any dirt, loosely bonded mortar and dust trapped in
between

4. Weather resistant sealant with paintable and flexible properties should be used to fill the
groove. X-tite strongseal (or equivalent) can be recommended. If the depth of the gap is
more than 5mm use a backer rod for bridging the gap to maintain the depth to width ratio of
1:2

5. Let the gap filler to harden for a time period specified by the manufacturer.

6. Paint (additional waterproofing paint to be used for protection of the sealant, if used) the
repaired area to match the colour of the surroundings.

a. Cracks along the masonry wall column joints - Cracks between Dis-similar Materials For Both
Internal & External Surfaces (when the movement is not allowed)

1. At masonry wall-column joints, two elements, ie. wall and the column should be
incorporated by installation of a metal lath.

2. Install a metal lath having a width of 100 mm across the wall-column joint

3. Plaster the wall-column joint for cover-up the metal lath.

4. Paint the surface with crack bridging primer.

5. Overcoat the repaired area to match the colour of the surroundings.

between.

3. Fill the crack with suitable Acrylic sealant. X-Seal JointFlex can be recommended.(if the
restoring of the structural integrity of the wall need to be done, the active condition of the
wall has to be first arrested and then do the repair as for a dormant cracks, else some other
method like structural separation will have to be adopted keeping the independency of the
two segments of the wall.)

4. Let the gap filler to harden for a time period specified by the manufacturer

5. Paint the repaired area to match the colour of the surroundings.

Refer further details of the specified products in TDS.

Painting of External wall finishes.

Following procedures are recommended for painting the exterior surface of the wall.
(a) Painting the external surfaces

Since exterior surfaces are exposed to high levels of moisture and UV rays, it is recommended to apply
an acrylic polymer-based paint such as X-Shield AcrylCoat. All the surfaces should be primed prior to
apply the surface coats.

Areas where retention of high levels of moisture, such as near the foundations and plinth levels, it is
recommended to apply a high performance flexible cementitious waterproofing coat (such as x-shield
flex coat plus) prior to apply surface paints.
