What would you like to focus on in today’s conversation?

What do you hope to take away from our discussion?

What would be the best possible outcome for you from our conversation today?
How can our session help you with your present challenges?
What will make this conversation amazing?
What life-changing decision can I help you make today that’s going to forever shape
your destiny in the most positive way possible?
What do you see as the first step to accomplishing your goal?
What might you do to take you closer after that?
Can you think of some alternatives? Is there another way?
Who might you ask for help? Who else?
In the past, what has worked for you? What did you learn from that?
Tell me what you think would happen if you tried doing that?
What are the pros and cons of this option?
Which possible pathway do you feel prepared to go down?
What would you do if time/money/resources weren’t an issue?
How will you measure your progress using this option?
Are you ready to get started? What are you ready for?
What’s preventing you from solving this problem?
How would you approach this issue in an ideal world?
If you had a magic wand, what would you do?
What are the first steps you will take?
What additional steps will you take and when will you take them?
What will you do to sustain this solution in the long-term?
How will you know you have solved the problem?
What would make this an extraordinary conversation? And what would make this even
more extraordinary than that?
What do you want? And what else?
I’m curious; may I ask you a few questions?
What’s great about your life this week?
How have you grown this week?
What did you accomplish this week?
Who did you serve?
What did you learn?
Who else will benefit?
What are you grateful for?
What would you like to create? What’s in the way of you creating that right now? (Steve
Chandler’s favorite two questions.)
If you were to call me in 3 years and you’re looking back on this conversation, what did
we discuss that changed everything?
What has changed since we started group coaching?
What did we learn?
What aspects of this process did you find most helpful?
What aspects of the process were not helpful?
What’s new and what’s good in your world? 9. What legacy do you want to leave
behind?
Are you working on leaving a legacy or are you living a legacy right now?
Which opportunity are you going to pursue?
What specific actions will you take to achieve your goal? What is your time frame?
What are the steps you’re going to take? What’s the very first thing you will do?
What are the next three steps? What else?
Have you considered the potential barriers?
Tell me how you plan to overcome these obstacles…
Who will you ask to help you along the way? What else will you need?
How committed do you feel to this particular opportunity, out of 10?
What are some ways you can get to 10?
How are you going to know that you’ve succeeded?
How do you want to grow as a human being?
In what way do you want to contribute to the world?
Who’s grateful for you?
Is this what you want to be coached on or are you just sharing?
What could you be happy about if you chose to be?
Are you using this to grow or are you beating yourself up?
Does this story empower you or disempower you?
What is it that you need to change in your life to get what you want today?
What do you think is possible as an outcome from this call? (Then say) I want to open
up you to the possibility that what you think is possible is nowhere near what’s possible.
What’s possible is so much more.
What would be really helpful to work on—what could we do today that would make the
biggest impact in your life and move you to where you want to be?
What are you afraid of? What do you believe is causing the fear? Is it valid? What would
you do if you had no fear?
How can you turn this around and have better results next time?
On a scale of 1 – 10 how honest have you been about this, with others?
Do you mind if I offer an observation?
Is this the problem or the solution?
How would you like it to be?
What’s in the way?
What’s stopping you?
How can you slow down to speed up?
18. What energizes you? What drains you of energy? (Life-changing exercise you can
do with clients)
19. What do you really, really want? What’s your secret dream?
Imagine that I create miracles, what miracle would you want me to help you create
today? Why haven’t you created it already?
What does this mean to you?
Are you focused on what’s wrong or what’s right?
Is that a story or the truth?
How can you find out?
Do you want this for its own sake or are you trying to avoid something else?
Is this giving you energy or draining your energy?
What will really make the biggest difference here?
Is this a limitation or is it a strength?
What do you want to create? Why do you want it? What’s in the way of you creating that
right now? What kind of person do you need to be to create it?
What kind of breakthrough would you like to have today?
How can you leave this conversation with more insight?
If I can help you change one thing today, what would that be?
What’s the benefit of this problem?
Who else is this hurting?
What does your intuition tell you about this?
Do you have a gut feeling about this?
Have you solved problems like this before?
What rules do you have that are getting in the way?
How long have you been thinking about this?
Put your right hand on your heart and take a slow, deep breath. Now tell me, what do
you really want?
What’s working? What’s not working? What’s missing? What’s next?
What do you want to create?
What do you need to do to feel unstoppable as a powerful creator?
Given this situation, what do you want to create?
Have you ever experienced something like this before?
If you changed your belief about this, what would be possible?
Is this a decision or a pipe dream?
Which of your core values does this goal express?
Is this goal pulling you forward or are you struggling to reach it?
Will this choice move you forward or keep you stuck?
As your coach, my job is to find out the answer to these questions. Can you look
yourself straight in the face and say you’re playing full-out? What’s stopping you from
playing full-out, no matter the outcome? What does playing full-out mean to you?
How can I serve you so powerfully that you will never forget this first call for the rest of
your life?
A really great point of discussion is the truth that what got you to this level of success is
exactly what will keep you from reaching the next level of success. What is that?
If you could be absolutely honest and release something, a secret you’ve been holding
on to for too long, what would that be?
What’s the first step you need to take to reach your goal?
What’s the worst that can happen, and can you handle that?
What’s the downside of your dream?
What’s stopping you from taking action?
Who wouldn’t like it if you succeeded?
What will you have to give up in order to make room for your goals?
How would your life be transformed if you changed this right now?
If you don’t change this, what will it cost you in the long run?
What’s missing in your life, and how do you keep it out? 35. What it is that stands in the
way of you and your future?
Can you name all the things you love? (Notice how long before they name themselves.)
I’d like you to imagine that it’s three years from now and you call me up on the phone
and say, “Holy shit, coach. My life is amazing.” Now tell me all about your amazing life.
Where are you making a contribution to something bigger than yourself?
Where are you out of integrity? Where have you made a commitment that you are not
really committed to?
What’s the most resourceful choice here?
How can you improve this, so it adds value forever?
How can you solve this problem so it never comes back?
Are you acting on faith or fear?
If you weren’t scared, what would you do?
Are you standing in your power or pleasing someone else?
What are you pretending not to know?
How’s your family?
How’s business?
What is the thing that when you are doing it, you totally forget about time?
What does your heart long for?
When was the time in your life that you felt most alive? What were you doing?
What is the problem you wake up to every morning?
What is your biggest gift?
How could you have this conversation so it empowers everyone concerned?
What might make the difference that could change everything?
If you approached this with courage, how could your life change?
Are you procrastinating or is there a reason to delay?
What’s the emotional cost vs. the financial cost?
Which step could you take that would make the biggest difference, right now?

When you leave a room, what do people miss most about you?
What’s going well for you?
What are you ignoring?

What drives you crazy?
What makes you lazy?
What gets you excited?
If your life were exclusively oriented around your values, what would that be like?
How would you describe the difference between a need and a value?
If you achieve this goal, will it bring lasting fulfillment or temporary pleasure?
Have you thought about the impact you’ll have by creating this?
How can you learn from this problem so it never happens again?
How can you create more value with less effort?
What can’t you know enough about?
What are you waiting for to go away before you act?
What would you do if you had more time?
What would you do if you had less time?
What would you do if you had more money?
What would you do if you had less money?
What would you do if you had more information?
What would you do if you had less information?
What would you do if you knew more people?
What would you do if you knew less people?
What do you take on that you should leave to others?
What are you willing to do to improve this situation?
What are you willing to stop doing to improve this situation?
How can you enjoy the process of solving this problem?
Do you mind if I ask a very personal question?
What are you willing to commit to here?
Do you need to work harder or delegate this?
If this weakness were also a strength, what would that be?
How can you use this so it becomes a benefit?
What do you leave to others that you should be doing?
Do you know someone who is getting the results you wish to get? Who is that person
being that you are not?
What type of people can’t you stand?
What type of people do you fall for too easily?
If someone held a gun to the head of a loved one and they’d die if you didn’t take
IMMEDIATE action, what’s the first tiny step you’d take?
If you’d earn a million dollars by taking one small step right now, what would you do?
Have you decided to take action or are you just hoping you will?
Are you angry or are you hurt?
Who can help you with this?
Does your current habitat fully support who you’re becoming?
What do you need in order to succeed here?
What plan do you need in order to achieve your new goals?
Are your personal standards high enough to reach your goals?
What will your impact be 100 years from now?
Who do you need to become in order to succeed here?
What are you responsible for here?
What are you really committed to and what are you going to do about it?
If you were only allowed to focus on one goal on your list, which goal would would be
most likely to ensure that every other goal was accomplished anyway—even if you were
not allowed to work on them?
What’s the best thing about your life right now?
What’s the growing edge for you as a leader these days?
Instead of either/or, how could you use both?
Are you approaching this from your head or from your heart?
Is this an assumption or have you checked to be sure?
How can you learn what you need to know about this?
Can you name one great joy and one great sorrow you experienced this year?
Can you name 2 or 3 of your best strengths? What are you really good at?

with?

What do you want in each area of your life? Be specific.
What are you tolerating?
What do you love and what does that look like?
When was the last time you felt genuinely happy? Please elaborate.
If you could change your life by taking one action today, what would that be?
What are you not willing to admit to yourself?
A spiritual truth is that the right time to take action is when you feel the same level of
fear as excitement. What action could you take that would make you feel both scared
and excited?
Why don’t you have what you want? 3. Why do you want what you want?
Could your wanting what you want actually be a lower level desire for something else?
And if so, what would that be?
Why does it matter?
Who did you have to become to achieve it?
What did you learn in the process?
Who else will benefit?
What’s next for you?
How have you changed the world for generations to come?
What’s keeping you from taking action toward your goal?
What do you keep telling yourself that keeps you from taking action?
What are you getting out of this so far?
Is that true? Can you know absolutely that it’s true? How do you react when you believe
that thought? Who would you be without that judgment? What’s the opposite thought?
How can you live into that new thought?
When you hit your goal, how do you think that will make you feel?

more successful?

What matters the most to you about this goal?
What have you tried so far?
What strengths can you draw on to bring about this change?
How will your life change if you achieve this outcome?
What actions have been successful for you in the past?
Why now?
Now that we have identified where you are and where you want to be, how do we get
there?
Can you commit to this today?
Is that true? What are the facts?
Can you tell me more?
What do you mean by that?
If you can’t see this right now, can you trust that it’s happening?
What version of you knows you can (fill in blank)?
What is stopping you? What’s important to you in your life?
What is your life’s purpose?
What do you enjoy doing?
When do you feel satisfied and fulfilled?
How is that impacting your life right now?
Why is it important?
What would happen if you fixed that right now?
The reality of money is that we don’t experience it—we experience what money can do
for us. Rather than me asking you the amount of money you intend to create, I want to
ask you a different question. In considering what money can do for you, what
experiences do you want to have over the next 3 months, 6 months, or a year?
(When your client’s mind is spiraling to a place of negativity or they’re having a serious
“problem,” ask) Does this mean anything in the long-term or in the big picture of your
life? Will this moment define you, or will it educate you? What can you learn from this
situation? How can you turn this problem into a project?
Thinking about our conversation, what are your next steps to accomplishing your goal?
What are the potential outcomes?
What steps will you take? And by what date?
What will success look like for you?
What will you need to move forward?
What are you telling yourself that is keeping you from doing what you want to do?
What’s your racket (story)?
How is this a good thing? How is this working FOR you, rather than TO you?
How can you make this more fun? How can you bring more joy to...?
Now that we have identified where you are and where you want to be, how do we get
there?
Is there something else you can do to be even more successful?
What will make your success inevitable?
Who do you need to be to get that done?
If you were to describe your most resilient self, what would you look like?
How would your most resilient self act or behave?

way NOW?
What action can we take right now in this moment on this call to get started?
And what else? And what else? And what else? And what else? (take them deeper and
deeper)
