The wind and the sun argued about which of them was the strongest. The wind said: “I’m so
powerful that I can blow all the cloud out of the sky.” The sun said: “I’m more powerful because I
can heat up sea below and this will produce many more clouds”
For a longtime the sun and the wind kept on arguing. Just then, they saw a boy walking along
the road below. He was wearing a coat. The wind suddenly has an idea. He said: “Let’s see who
can get the coat off the boys back.” The sun agreed
The wind started first. He blew as hard as he could. He blew from behind and he blew from in
front of the boy. The harder he blew, the more tightly the boy held on his coat to keep it from
blowing away. After a while, the wind gave up.
Then, it was the sun turn. It came out from behind the clouds and shone on the boy. The boy felt
warm. After that, it began hotter and hotter. Soon the boy could not stand the heat any longer.
He took his coat off. The sun won.

One day, a young wanderer got lost in the wood. Suddenly he saw a light from an old hut. He
knocked on the door, and an old women opened it. She was crying. She said that the devil had
stolen her magic candle. The candle could grant anything she asked. The wanderer asked her
where the devil lived. “In the castle not far from here,’ said the women.
The wanderer went to the castle. There, he found the devil. He was old and weak. Therefore,
when the wanderer grabbed the magic candle from the devil’s and ran away, the devil could not
chase him.
The wanderer, actually, was not a kind man. He did not return the candle to the old woman, but
kept it for himself. He lit the candle and made a wish, “I wish to go far away from here.”
Suddenly a genie appeared and took him to beautiful palace. There was a party in the palace.
The wanderer wanted to make some money. So, he lit the candle again and wished for some
jewelry. He sold it to the guest and was soon making a lot of money.
The princess came to buy some jewelry, but there was nothing left. The wanderer fell in love
with her and asked her to marry him. “Would you marry me?” asked the wanderer.
In the morning, the wanderer woke up and found himself back in his own ugly house in is
village.
