1.1 Introduction
Hospitals hold a position in our healthcare system serving as establishments that contribute to
the health and welfare of individuals and communities. These institutions serve as havens of
healing, comfort, and hope where dedicated and skilled medical practitioners exert efforts to
preserve lives and ease pain. There are many problems faced by Hospitals one of them being
financial strain, due to high operational costs, uncompensated care for patients without insurance,
and government reimbursement regulations, hospitals frequently experience financial difficulties.
Holding financial records in order while delivering high-quality care can be very challenging.
Shortages in staff is also one of the problem, Doctors, nurses, and support personnel are just
some of the healthcare workers who are regularly in short supply in the medical field. Resources
at the hospital may be strained, and patient care may suffer. Since technology has improved
healthcare results, hospitals may find it expensive and difficult to stay on top of new
developments. The technological difficulties they encounter including implementing electronic
health records and ensuring cybersecurity are just some of their many problems. Hospitals must
put patients' safety and satisfaction first. Keeping patients safe from medical errors and receiving
compassionate care is a continuous problem. The ability of hospitals to serve their communities
effectively can be limited by differences in access to healthcare services, both geographically and
financially. Particularly in rural locations, there might not be enough hospital capacity.
In these modern days, Hospitals in our society have many solutions to our health problems, by
giving care and treatment to individuals who experiencing any kind of illnesses or injuries. They
are offering a lot of healthcare services, together with emergency rooms and specialized
departments, such as cardiology, oncology, and pediatrics. Hospitals are also important centers
for emergency medical care. In times of severe accidents, trauma cases, and emergency medical
situations, they are always prepared to deal with it. Their quick action might be the cause of a
person’s life and death. Modern surgical facilities are available in hospitals for the performance of
complex procedures and surgeries. These include procedures that save lives, organ transplants,
and regular procedures. Laboratories, MRI machines, CT scanners, and other advanced
diagnostic equipment are some of a modern Hospitals should and can provide, that will help in the
precise diagnosis of a variety of medical disorders. Because for the therapy to be effective, a

rehabilitation treatments for those
recovering from successful or unsuccessful operations, accidents, or long-term illnesses. The
healing process includes multiple important components, including psychological assistance,
professional treatment, and physical therapy. Medical research and education are made better by
several hospitals that are connected to colleges and medical schools. It promotes medical
innovation by these organization, educate the next generation of healthcare workers, and develop
the medical industry as a whole.
Talavera is one of the Philippines' growing cities, located in the province of Nueva Ecija,
Region III. As a neighboring urban center in the center of Nueva Ecija, Talavera is a former part of
Cabanatuan City. It is known as the "Food Basket in Inland Luzon" and the "Milk Capital".
Talavera has its own General Hospital, known as “PJG Talavera Hospital” located in Pan-
Philippine Hwy, Talavera, Nueva Ecija. The building serves as the general hospital where the
people of Talavera come when they are having a health issue or are in an accident, which means,
the said hospital acts as a haven of healing and hope for the people of Talavera, but the existing
Hospital is lacking in healthcare services that is why patient usually transfer to another hospital
when they cannot accommodate a certain type of disease, but time is very important when it
comes to the health of a person especially when it is emergency, since Talavera is a developing
city the needs to extend the capability of the current general hospital is an essential. The proposal
for an extension plan for PJG Hospital is the main concern of this study. Since healthcare services
play a vital role in a developing city, it is necessary not only for the people of Talavera but also for
the people who need medical attention and services.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
This study is purposively to provide substantial solutions to the following inquiries which
have concerns about the extension plan of PJG Hospital in Talavera, Nueva Ecija. This study
also aims to provide architectural plans and designs that will extend the capability of the PJG
hospital.
The PJG Hospital's Talavera expansion aims to address the following problem:
1. Is the proposed project feasible for the province?
2. What kind of architectural design would best meet the needs of the public and accomplish
its goals?
3. Does the existing Hospital need to have an extension?
1.3 Scope and Delimitation
Scope
The proposed project focuses generally on the planning of new buildings inside the property
and its circulation. The architectural design of the current hospital is used while the idea of
modern architecture is integrated into the building characteristics, The project's scope will also
include, space planning, and a study of patient behavior circulation.

limited to the architectural design of the extension buildings.
1.4 Significance of the Study
The main objective of this project is to build the city and province a better, more effective public
hospital. To establish a hospital that will be useful to everyone, patients, guests, and staff at
the same time.
Community
A person's birth, life-saving treatment, and even death have all taken place in
hospitals, and they always have. However, as time passes, the community's need for
healthcare grows as a result of the expanding population and newly identified diseases. To
meet and satisfy these growing needs, existing hospitals must be expanded.
Economy
As one of the largest employers in the area, hospitals have an important effect on
the economy. The hospital's expansion will increase its quality and effectiveness while also
lowering hospital costs, increasing the need for more medical staff, and making the facility
more accessible to patients.
Future Researchers
Future researchers who are planning on conducting a study on the expansion or
renovation of hospitals can use this study as a framework. They will be able to provide
information from this study on how to expand or redesign hospitals in order to meet the
community's expanding demands while also enhancing the hospital's efficiency as well as
innovation.

1.6 Justification of the Study
The Dr. Pjgmrmc Talavera Extension Hospital is the hospital, in Talavera. Due to the
increasing demand for healthcare services and the growing population there are plans to
expand its facilities by constructing a new building within the hospital's premises. This
expansion aims to provide beds and accommodate the projected need for healthcare
services. Additionally it is expected that this expansion will create employment opportunities
during construction and afterward contributing to growth in the city and province by
generating employment opportunities. The hospital has a long term plan to continue
delivering quality services both in the future.
Hospitals face challenges as they strive to meet standards set by the public and
stakeholders. The Joint Commissions research report titled "Health Care at the Crossroads;
Guiding Principles for the Development of Hospitals of the Future" highlights challenges
including healthcare costs evolving treatment compensation, increasing demands for
transparency in cost and quality data as well, and a shortage of qualified healthcare
professionals. Furthermore, patients staying in hospitals often have conditions that require
specialized care. The rise, in patients with illnesses, older adults, and medical interventions
and treatments is currently having an impact, on hospitals. This impact is expected to
continue growing in the future.
Hospital design encompasses a range of aspects that greatly influence people,
including patients, visitors and medical staff. These aspects include air quality, lighting
conditions, noise levels, room organization and interior design. One crucial consideration, in
the planning process is how the layout of the hospital relates to safety. An effective layout
can contribute to patient comfort reduce staff stress levels, minimize staff movement

enhancing the connection, between healthcare quality and the physical environment.
