Function of management

 Planning

Planning or the planning process in the management function is about how companies set goals
complete with ways and strategies to achieve them. In the planning function, managers need to review
and evaluate various possible alternative plans before deciding on an action.

Planning in the management function is an important process considering that planning is the first
step that can affect the company's activities in the future. Without careful planning, other management
functions will not be able to run optimally.

Planning function

Some of the planning activities in the management function are

1. Determine company goals and targets.

2. Develop a strategy to achieve it.

3. Determine the various resources that may be needed.

4. Determine the standards of success during the process of achieving these goals.

 Organizing

Organizing or the process of organizing is focusing on managing the physical and human resources that
the company has in order to realize planned goals. Usually, the organizing function is used to group all
the tools, tasks, people and authorities for the purpose of executing the plan.

The supervisory process is carried out by managers easily by utilizing the organizing function. Managers
can determine group members, responsible persons to the type and classification of tasks through the
organizing function.

Organizing Function Activities

To realize a good organizing function, the following activities must be carried out

1. Select, recruit and provide training and human resource development.

2. Adjusting the position of the workforce according to their abilities.

3. Arrange and assign tasks and allocate labor according to procedures.

4. Determine the company structure according to the responsibilities and lines of authority.
 Directing

Actuating and directing or the directing function is an effort to produce more effective and efficient
performance by creating a dynamic work atmosphere.

To make this happen, here are some activities that are usually carried out by the directing function.

1. Guidance and motivation for the workforce

2. Dissemination of tasks and all policies clearly.

3. Explanation of job duties on a regular basis.

 Controlling

Controlling or the monitoring process is the 4 management functions according to the last experts used
for control purposes.

The controlling function can also be used as a tool to measure employee performance according to
established standards. Through the controlling function, evaluation of improvements can be carried out
if necessary.

Controlling Function Activities

o Here are some activities that are usually carried out in the controlling function
o Clarification and examination of errors that occur.
o Evaluation of targets according to predetermined standard indicators.
o Provision of alternative solutions to existing irregularities.

To realize the controlling function effectively, here are some things that need to be considered

1. Scheduling, determining the appropriate supervision time.

2. Routing, determining the desired way of supervision.

3. Follow up, search for a solution to a problem.

4. Dispatching, a work order used as supervision.

Management of the company can be done easily by knowing the functions of management. The
future direction of the company's goals will be determined from the various functions used. Because
the implementation of appropriate management functions will bring about changes both for the
organization and the company.
