3
PREFACE

This report “Personal and Professional Challenges and their impact on Women Career
Decisions”. The idea of preparing this research report comes from our degree of Masters of
Business Administration; theoretical knowledge without the practical exposure is of little
value. Theoretical studies in classroom are not sufficient to understand the functioning and
nature of the research. Therefore it becomes necessary to undergo any research project work.

I complete my research project on the topic “Personal and Professional Challenges and their
impact on Women Career Decisions”. During the research project I got an opportunity to
learn valuable things, which I could never been able to learn from theory classes.

In nutshell, whole of my report was invaluable experience in the pursuit of knowledge. In the
forthcoming pages attempt has been made to present a comprehensive report concerning
different aspect of my research. The overall gain to me will be reflected in the report itself.

4

REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Sophia J. Ali (2011) investigated the challenges facing women in career development
in Kapsabet Municipality, Kenya. She found that most of the women employees were
dissatisfied with career development programmes and women were discriminated against in
career development opportunities. The study recommended that organizations should strive to
ensure that career development programmes were set to enhance career development amongst
women employees. Top management should also be committed to the career development of
women, and organizations should also introduce affirmative action to urgently address career
development of women.
