LESSON 3 – Stages of Human Acts: The Acts of Decision


ACTIVITY : TEXT PROBE

Answer the following questions based on the story “The Tale of the Blind.”

1. How would you describe the two characters in the story? How does on differ from
another?

The two main characters in the tale personally experienced a circumstance where their
lives were at crucial stake. Perhaps it's a day that they breathed their last. They make it
through a new day while sharing similar sentiments in one another's company.

The virtues and values of the two men are dissimilar. When given some thought, they
stand in for both hope and despair. Even though he is quite lethargic, the man near the
window wakes up in an attempt to view the faint ray of hope. The man who continues to
lie flat, on the other hand, is comparable to someone who allows his sorrow to consume
him and believes that he will never have a better life ahead of him because of the condition
he is currently experiencing, restricting the things he could explore and achieve growth.

2. Why do you think the blind man in the bed by the window had to pretend he was
seeing a picturesque view outside and describe it to his roommate?

It will be tedious and exhausting to have to lie flat on your back all day for several
weeks or perhaps months. In the worst case scenario, the thought of giving up can cross
your mind. It might also make you anxious about what tomorrow would bring. What is
your ultimate life's purpose? Would things improve at all? How will you reorient yourself?

In an effort to motivate his friend and show him that life has more to offer than what
his mind could comprehend despite the obstacles and difficulties that prevent him from
wanting to stand up and fight once again, the blind guy claimed to be viewing a spectacular
scenery. It served as a subliminal reminder to the man who was lying down on the bed that
he still had a chance to succeed in overcoming his preconceived limitations.
3. Is the decision of the blind man influenced by his intellect and will? Is his action good
or evil? Why do you say so?

The intellect and willpower of the blind guy play a significant role in his decision. It
demonstrates his sincere desire to create more admirable realities, opportunities, and
prospects for the man he was with. It was a wise and sensible choice. He not only
encouraged the other man to keep going, sit down, and attempt to observe the fascinating
setting that provides more than the mind could imagine, but he also helped himself think
more optimistically despite being critically ill.

Life is exquisite. Simply seize the opportunity to make it memorable by identifying a


good interpretation. Everything you do, witness, and come into contact with will therefore
have a purpose for you to consider it worthwhile. Where you can one day look back and
use your former struggles as inspiration to keep fighting for the future. Like the proverb
says, "You believed you could, you're halfway there, and without realizing it, you
accomplished it."

4. If you were the blind man, would you do the same thing he did? Why?

I would behave in the same manner if I were the blind man. I am the type of person
who listens first before speaking, much like with my friends, and I see parallels in the
scenario. There are days when I, or even the people I am with, are surrounded by dark
clouds. Darkness might signify the end of new chapters that could have been used to start
over. However, just like the blind man, even when things are difficult and there doesn't
seem to be a clear course to follow, our own imaginations are what bring about the
transformation. The way we approach things and the lessons we gain from the past redefine
tiny possibilities into enormous ones.

Being confined to a hospital bed and assuming that what you did led this to transpire
will never be simple. It gives you no hope. You want to just put an end there. However,
what the blind man managed to accomplish will always serve as a reminder that life goes
on no matter how monochromatic it may be.

5. What does the story teach you about life in general?

The story prompted me to recognize that although everyone faces complex barriers
every day, there is always someone who is willing to listen to what I have to say and urge
me to think outside of the box to which I was initially accustomed. The blind man served
as a powerful inspiration for me to carry on with my life even when I feel bound and
imprisoned by circumstances that prevent me from experiencing the significant
development and progress I envision for myself.
To maintain optimism regardless how awful and horrible life may be since you are the
sole individual who can motivate yourself to keep trying. Life is not constantly full of roses
and rainbows; it may even be a series of storms and thunders. The fact that something is
worth investing in makes it all worthwhile to endure the wait of attraction where everything
follows in the center because He, Our Father, is there to help us overcome our difficulties.
