1. INTRODUCTION
The teacher prepares handouts with crossword puzzle about some festivals and celebrations
in Vietnam and the world.
The teacher divides the class into small groups (4-5 students), then gives each group a
handout to do group work.
- Which group finishes first say “BINGO” and read out loud the answers and with all the
correct
ones the group will win.
Teacher leads in the topic’s lesson.
2. DEVELOPMENT
STEP 1:
PRE- READING:
Teacher asks the whole class to look at the picture on page 90 and discuss the three questions
in pairs.
-Teacher goes around to offer help.
- Teacher calls some pairs to present their answers. T gives feedback
if necessary.
STEP2:
DURING READING:
WHILE YOU READ
Setting the scene: Ss are going to read a passage by taking turn to read out loud each
sentence through the whole passage and then do the following tasks.
TASK 1
Instruction: Find the meanings of
the given words (can use dictionary).
- Teacher instructs learners to read the passage quickly and find the key words.
Teacher show learners how to guess the words’ meanings in context by read the words
before/after the
key words.
TASK 2
Instruction: Read the passage and decide whether the statements are True(T) / False(F)
- T instructs Ss to use some strategies to do task:
First: read and find the key words in each statement.
Second: compare those key words with the ones in the passage to see whether it right or
wrong.
- Teacher asks Ss to work in groups to do the task and discuss their answers with their
friends.
- Teacher calls randomly one Ss in each group to give the answers and asks them to explain
their choices.
- Teacher gives the correct answers.
TASK 3
Instruction: Answer the given
questions.
- T reminds Ss some tips to do the task:
+ First: read the question and underline the key words.
+ Second: look for the sentence which has the key words to find.
the answer.
_ Teacher can allow Ss to use their own words in some answers.
- Teacher asks Ss to do the task individually.
- Teacher calls randomly 7 Ss to write the answer of each question on the board and ask them
to
explain their choices.
- Teacher gives the correct answers
STEP 3:
Post reading
AFTER YOU READ
- T asks Ss to work in groups to write down the things they did on the last Tet holiday by using
the given main points.
_ Teacher reminds Ss what verb tense (past simple) they should use.
- Teacher goes around to help Ss if they need.
- When all groups have finished, teacher calls randomly 2-4 Ss from
each group to exchange their answers by making a conversation using Wh-questions.

Who did you visit? …)
- Teacher give feedback about the conversation.
3. CONSOLIDATION/LESSON CONCLUSION
Consolidation repeats all the new words.
- Homework learn by heart the new words; prepare for the next lesson.

2. What challenges did you experience during the presentation of your lesson?
Yes, I did.
Unexpected Questions: Students surprised me with questions I hadn't anticipated. It
was a great opportunity to showcase my depth of knowledge and ability to think on
my feet.
Surprising Reactions: I got a range of reactions from students. They were more excited, than
I anticipated. Skilfully navigated these reactions with patience and understanding led to
productive discussions.
