CRIMINAL LAW I

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course deals with Book 1 of the Revised Penal Code and relevant special penal laws that define
offenses, treats of their nature and provide penalties for its commission. Book 1 of the RPC contains
the general principles of the penal law system and Book 2 of the RPC contains all felonies under our
penal law while Special Penal Laws and Ordinances contain all offenses and infractions, respectively.

COURSE PLACEMENT : First Year, First Semester

COURSE OUTCOMES

1. Know the basic and advanced legal principles governing the criminal law, felonies and
offenses; their stages of execution and participation of persons; their similarities and
distinctions and how each one is treated by law and jurisprudence.

2. Understand and retain by memory the above legal principles for future application.

3. Explain and interpret the legal provisions applicable to the above-stated legal principles and
to apply comprehension and analysis to case problems

4. Master the fundamental legal principles governing criminal law in preparation for the Bar
Examination

5. Apply and relate the learned legal provisions on criminal law in their field of practice as
legal professionals
