I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students must be able to:
a. define rotation and revolution of the Earth;
b. demonstrate the rotation of the Earth; and
c. realize how the Earth rotate and revolve.

III. Teaching Strategies

a. Engagement
Activity Title: Earth’s Rotation Exercise
Procedure: All of the students are going to stand up and they are going to rotate
their hips counterclockwise for 1 minute.
Time Allotment: 1 minute
b. Exploration
Activity Title: Agree or Disagree
Procedure: The teacher is going to ask questions to students and the students will
answer if they agree or disagree.
Time Allotment: 5 minutes
c. Explanation - The teacher will discuss the Earth’s Motion, how it rotates and revolve.
d. Elaboration
Recitation: How do movements of the Earth affect our lives? How will your life
change if the Earth rotated very slowly?
e. Evaluation
Quiz:
1. What are the two movements of the Earth? Explain each.
2. Define or describe the following:
a. Axis
b. Circle of Illumination
3. What causes the Earth's rotation?
4. What causes the Earth's Revolution?
f. Enrichment
Assignment: Research or ask an elder about how our ancestors determine the time
of the day and what are the instruments they used, if there were. Share what you find
out in the class.
