The university is divided into several departments, each of which is in charge of a certain function or set
of connected functions. For instance, the Office of Academic Affairs is in charge of administering
academic programs, while the Office of Student Affairs is in charge of managing student services.
For example: if a student is interested in studying biology. They would then enroll in courses offered by

3. Chain of command

Chain of Command: There is a chain of command at the institution, and every employee answers to senior

4. Span of control

With limited control, each supervisor only has to be in charge of a limited number of
employees at the institution. Departments can exercise control and communicate
with greater efficiency as a result. For example, the managers who work at the level
of senior management monitor the comprehensive strategic plans of their
organizations, which can only be implemented if the managers who work at the
level of middle management in turn monitor the plans of the various departments
and units in the organization, and the latter, on its part, is based on monitoring the
managers who work in The minimum management level for employees, groups and
individuals.

5. Centralization/decentralization

Centralized/ decentralized: The university has a centralized structure, most of the decisions at the
university are made at the top of the organization, indicating a centralized structure. However, lower-
level employees still have some decision-making power, which indicates a degree of decentralization.
For example, a department head might have the authority to make certain decisions about departmental
budgets or hiring, even though they ultimately answer to senior management. This balance of centralized
decision-making with some degree of decentralization allows for greater efficiency and flexibility in the
university's operations.
