DIARY
NAME: Ponase, Nerlyne Mae P. AREA: Irisan
YEAR/SECTION/GROUP: BSN 2- Section I- Group A DATE: 09/15/23
ACTIVITIES

Here are some of the activities that I did during the 3 day community duty. 1st day is that I
tried to do Profilling and taking vital signs. The healthcare center staffs also oriented us
regarding their schedules and organizations. 2nd day of duty the staff nurse ask me to take
the fetal heart rate of the pregnant mother using a Doppler, Observing proper
administration of vaccines to babies. Also I was able to take vital signs of a baby, toddler,
and adults. 3rd day of duty I accompanied my group mates together with our CI to go home
visit.

KNOWLEDGE GAINED/SKILLS/ATTITUDE ACQUIRED

I gained leadership skills and time management. When going to my duty I really need to
double time and manage it properly for me to be on time. As a leader of the group it’s my
obligation to update and follow up my group mates time to time for them to be aware also
on what they are going to do. Knowledge gained is that I learned the different methods of
Family Planning and it’s effects. Attitude is that I become more active and positive to those
clients who suffer from illness.

LEARNING INSIGHTS

There’s a lot to improve in their environment, especially the garbage disposal and the
increase of teenage pregnancy in their community. I realized that they are not active in
joining community organizations. For me, they have to focus more on expanding their
family planning organization. I’ve seen 16yrs old and below who are pregnant. I realized
that some of the family are too crowded in one house and surrounded by animals like dogs
and chickens. I also realized that their children are always having a cough and colds.

SUGGESTIONS/ISSUES/CONCERNS ENCOUNTERED/RECOMMENDATION

Encourage individuals to participate in community organizations like clean up drive for

them to daily check their surroundings especially those who have children's playing outside
their house. The purpose of this is to prevent them from getting sick. I suggest that they
should not let their toddlers play with their pets. The healthcare center should atleast have
a FB page , so that they can post whatever their events and schedule on it. Because some of
the clients go to the healthcare center not aware that they are closed.
