Modals verbs are auxiliary verbs used with other main verb.
Modal verbs show the speaker attitude and feelings about a situation.

Modal perfects Are used to refer success or action that happened in the past.

Use should have

To say that a different action was recommended in the past.

● Structure should + have + verb in participle

● Example I told you, you should have studied more!(Te lo dije, deberías haber estudiado más.)

I shouldn’t have eaten that last cookie.(No debería haber comido la última galleta.)

She shouldn’t have been angry, it wasn’t your fault.(No debería haberse enfadado, no fue culpa tuya.)

might (not) + have + past participle:

Ejemplos:

I think it may have worked, but we gave up too soon.(Creo que podría haber funcionado, pero nos rendimos demasiado pronto.)

They might have won if their star player hadn’t been injured.(Ellos podrían haber ganado si su mejor jugador no se hubiera lesionado.)

I don’t know, it might have been different if you were there.(No sé, podría haber sido diferente si tú hubieras estado allí.)

Must have are used to express

a logical conclusion or something that happened in the past

Must + have + verb in participle

+ He must have passed the exam. + El debería pasar el exámen


Example - He mustn't have passed the exam. - El no debería pasar el exámen
? Must he have passed the exam? ? ¿Debería el pasar el exámen?
Could have
Could have is used to indicate
that something could have passed or one could
have done but that didn't happen or wasn’t done.

Structure: Subject + Could have + verb in participle

Examples + They could have gone with us. + Ellos podían haber ido con nosotros.
- Peter no podía haber escrito ese
