Phumalanga Report
Phumalanga Report
As usual, we met at the Main Gate at half past eight (08:30) on Monday, April 4th,
and arrived at Phumalanga at 9:00 a.m. We usually divide into two groups, with one
group fetched water on the tanks in Golf course location and the other peeling
vegetables. Water, firewood, gas, and electricity have all proven to be major
roadblocks on this project so far. Because there was no water and we needed to
cook samp for the day, we split up, and the male colleagues went firewood gathering
because we had to cook samp outside. Female co-workers were still peeling. When
the guys came back from collecting wood, others returned with water from Golf
course. The menu of the day was samp, soup, and sweet potatoes.
We finished preparing the meal at 12:30 a.m. and waited until 13:00 p.m. to leave for
Gqumashe Village to deliver and serve it. We dished up our meals in a community
hall when we arrived. Phumalanga project is intended for the elderly, but when we
arrive, we serve both the elderly and the young. We returned to Phumalanga around
15:00 pm. We washed the dishes, signed the register, and said our goodbyes.
