Internship Programming Project

This diagram explains in summary the process I went through during this timeline of this project.

During my internship here at Elaab Limited. I did learn a handful of Concepts when it comes to
planning and information towards an attitude of coding in a networking sense.
In my internship we decided to take on a game development project as it covers a large variety of
aspects in IT practically and Development in "business” as a project.
Continuing through this project, I not only learned how to Program and Implement but I learned the
importance of planning and steps engineered by professionals to ease and smooth out the learning
curve that comes with these kinds of development sessions.

The Project Itself

This is the main project body that includes all the Developed game design document elements I
made and recorded using Nuclino.

Game Overview

Working Title
Box Runner

Elevator Pitch
We're developing a semi open-world rouge-like game set in a post-modern futuristic apocalypse
inspired by Dystopian Futuristic sets. Its gameplay is strongly story-driven and based on an entirely
new premise of species, motives and "fantasy". It's Survival of the Adaptive.

Overview
1. Genre: Roguelike/ Mania
2. Target audience:
1. Age: 15-30
2. Gender: Male/Female
3. Monetization: Free / Support
3. Platforms & system requirements:
1. PC (Windows)
Theme and Setting
4. In a world devoid of all life and hope there was nothing but the bare earth that rose
mountains and sunk valleys under its mundane belt and harbor stale earth and gravel
crusted along the ever-expanding caverns. There was nothing but a lone shuttle abandoned
and desolate harboring strange lights and smooth yet tough earth around itself. But one
strange device caught attention and was activated amongst the rumble and deuteriation and
set off a signal that would call upon the saviors of this forgotten land and bring joy along
with prosperity.

Story
Backstory
In a world devoid of all life and hope there was nothing but the bare earth that rose
mountains and sunk valleys under its mundane belt and harbor stale earth and gravel
crusted along the ever-expanding caverns. There was nothing but a lone shuttle abandoned
and desolate harboring strange lights and smooth yet tough earth around itself. But one
strange device caught attention and was activated amongst the rumble and deuteriation and
set off a signal that would call upon the saviors of this forgotten land and bring joy along
with prosperity.
As Beauty and Love caressed our home so did the abundant cosmos who brought weary and
dread but friends and goods. And after seven hundred million years of civilization, it was
time for us to move on to the next star system to see what the ‘universe’ had for us to
explore. “To new sights past old beginnings”.

0bletheu5 a solo-engineered drone that has been dormant 100 years after they all left. But after all
this time all the buildings stand tall with a few expectations of which caused his awakening. An OI
fused with an AI all under the influence of an uploaded consciousness of unknown origin. Our
player is to find out about his origins and return to them while surviving the remnants of the past
and unprecedented threats never thought to exist and hacking and understanding the technology
left behind and the ancient’s knowledge to arm themselves in their journey.

5
Characters
Wildlife
Animal life in the main is greatly influenced by the technology of the ancients and that of the
previous inhabitants creating chimeras of nature and science.

These tech infused beasts have forced the normal beasts into fast paced evolution into diverse and
terrifying beasts that can battle against the stronger technology. Like beasts with plasma breath
and plasma resistant skin, beasts with radio frequency screams that disrupt technology and beasts
with an outrageous number of different animal features it looks like a hundred animals in one. And
the exotic wildlife brought in by space smugglers has made it even worse.

NPCs
Travelers
People who seek to be under the light of hermithood or peace and vacation, maybe even parties,
battles and raids see this planet as the perfect place to hold such events as such there are a small
number of different extra-selectorial life coming to said planet to fulfill their needs and wants.
And there are business opportunities to be struck here as the planet will turn into an entirely
different place in the ("Lore") future. As vendors set up shop as time passes by, followed by larger
cooperation's and more important mechanists.

The Protagonist
Backstory
0bletheu5 a solo-engineered drone that has been dormant 100 years after they all left. But after all
this time all the buildings stand tall with a few expectations of which caused his awakening. An OI
fused with an AI all under the influence of an uploaded consciousness of unknown origin. Our
player is to find out about his origins and return to them while surviving the remnants of the past
and unprecedented threats never thought to exist and hacking and understanding the technology
left behind and the ancient’s knowledge to arm themselves in their journey.

Personality
A curious robot and dedicated and a 'bot' of few words trying to get by where he can and cautious
where he can be. And saddened by the lightest things.

Appearance

6
A spherical-box shaped drone with cervical extruding parts to switch modes and glowing blue
power through slant openings and circular core in the center body which glows brilliant blue.

Special abilities
The ability of the protagonist is Calculation speed == Total Speed (All factors acting on the player
included). meaning if the player is moving faster will be able to calculate faster and the factors of
friction that make him slower will be slowly ignored. And this grants him the ability to perform
feats of logic processing and matter ignorance via speed.Examples include slow motion mode,
blinking(teleportation) and more to come

️️⚙️Gameplay & mechanics

7
Gameplay
Game Progression
Communication
The Goal of the game seems to be to reach the of the story while surviving the obstacles
thrown at the player. But to tell this to the player directly breaks “immersion” which is
particularly important. So, to prevent ‘outside help’ , the solution is to have an atmosphere
to read the room, that’s one of the many tasks of the player. To show that the player needs
to fight, or run is up to the design of the monster or threat and to tell the player that this is a
friendly person it up to the dialogue he throws at the player.
Obstacles
The ‘wall’ the player faces will be in various forms: puzzles, enemies, trust, Maintenance,
time and even himself. The game itself also stands as an emotional barrier. Dangerous
Terrain, Gang territory, Monster habitats, the player is constantly reminded that where he
is, is not a place he belongs as there are other beings and families living here but to
progress, he must go past, and they are forcing the player learn about the ‘worlds’ he goes
past making them have to choose between the more difficult decisions and their decisions
can make obstacles of their own.
Rules
The rules that stop the player are very few but avoid the physics that the ‘worlds’ host
becomes challenging and make some things impossible this is mostly to add to the diversity
and challenge. The other subject matter is the “Constraints of Normality” for example
moving at three times the speed of light is possible but that would be too troublesome to
calculate so that would cause the vessel to break down and ‘die’.
Rewards
For set Tasks and Accomplishments or even Exploration the player will be rewarded in the
following ways either in form of an upgrade to up chances of survival, an important piece of
information to help or is necessary to progress, or lastly access to areas where even more
challenges and rewards lie.

Mechanics
Movement
The movement of enemies is more or less organic. But the player movement is a constant revolving
barrel between gliding, grinding, bouncing, turning, panning and flying all to pick up speed to
increase the movement options.
" More Speed, More Options, More Chances of Survival ''

Objects
More Objects that are moveable and destructible and while because you slow down and even meet
a game over, but other objects can be used to lure, activate and skip certain events and start them
as well so we are attentive on what things might be.

8
Pushing, Pulling, Lifting
To move objects around in desired directions to different locations the player will use a tool or
tools to achieve this, meaning the player will be given for example a gravity beam component can
be installed into the player robot and using it will cost energy or the player can use their body to
push the objects in different ways like toying with a rope and etc.

Combat
Combat as a monster or beast to solely dependent on the biology of the beast but as player your
arsenal of your energy and impact both generated by your speed to "powerup" deal with the enemy
but for subtlety and stealth you would require some 'Upgrades' to make it work but you can always
improvise with your surroundings.

Talking
To be able to interact with different people will be very difficult as you would have to do a lot, here
are the two options. You can either gather specific objects to show the meaning of your statement
or question. Or you scour the market or the planet for translation data (Always two pieces) and
spend "Energy" to speak with the person.

Reading
As for reading it will always require a scan, costing energy and translation data that's even more
rare.

Models and textures

Player Model
This is the 3d model of the player MC. Although the game itself is a 2d game the geometry of the
player was so complex I had to get 3d angles.

For the Future as this internship comes to a

close, I shall continue this project as I have
only yet to proceed with Design in the step of
the process.
