This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help you develop
knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the performance of Electrical tasks. The scope of this
module permits it to be used in many different learning situations. The language used
recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of the students. The lessons are arranged to follow
the standard sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed
to correspond with the textbook you are now using.

The module is divided into two lessons, namely:

● Lesson 1 – Analyze signs, electrical symbols and data
● Lesson 2 – Interpret Technical Drawing and Plans
After going through this module, you are expected to:
● read and interpret electrical signs, symbols, and data.
● analyze electrical components and material based on the electrical signs,
symbols, and data.
● read blueprints of electrical plans, diagram, and circuits;
● Identify necessary tools, materials, and equipment according to blueprints of
electrical plans, diagrams, and circuits.

Today, sign and symbols are very helpful to people. It helps people to understand
things by simply looking at it. In electricity, we have lots of signs that provide instructions and
warnings to avoid accident and also symbols to use for electrical plans and lay-outs.

The symbols are usually conventional or in shape, it helps to represent an object,

process, or a function while sign is in a form of language that directly communicates with the
people or audience. Signs usually give information and instruction in a form of image or in

Some of the best thing that people created are the signs and symbols that helps us
with directions, instructions, and many other things. Imagine life without it maybe the world is
probably full of chaos. Nowadays, the signs and symbols are part of our daily living that is
why knowing the corresponding meaning of it is needed.

Symbols are the key for us to easily understand the electrical plans. It helps us to
interpret the plan by simply looking at the symbols drawn by the draftsman or electrical
engineer. With the use of the sign and symbols that we tackled from the last lesson with
learning on how to interpret those symbols when it is already on the plan.
