Write your answers on the lines provided.

1. There are 26 boys on a school bus carrying 42 students.


(a) What is the ratio of the number of boys to the total number of students on the
school bus?

(b) What is the ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys on the school bus?

2. There are 46 storybooks and half as many comic books on a shelf. What is the ratio of the
number of comic books to the total number of books on the shelf?

Mental Maths: Division – Dividing Numbers by 25

Find the value of 7000 ÷ 25.

STRATEGY
7000 ÷ 25 = (7000 × 4) ÷ 100 [multiply the number by 4]
= 28 000 ÷ 100 [divide by 100]
= 280
