Objectives:

This project aims to provide the children with hygiene kits to promote cleanliness and

health, as well as to implement a feeding program to stop malnourishment. Feeding programs

help school-age children's physical, mental, and psychological development. Also, it aims to

improve knowledge, attitude and practices of children enrolled in elementary schools through

intensified nutrition and health education. Hygiene kits on the other hand encourage a healthy

environment for the children and lessen the risk of contamination among groups. Poor hygiene

in children causes the spread of microorganisms that can cause diseases, especially with

children being the most vulnerable members of the community at risk.

Background of the Project:

The most vulnerable time in a person's life is probably when they are a child. Children

are especially susceptible because they rely so much on others to provide their fundamental

needs. A major factor in a child’s vulnerability depends on their life status, especially on those
who are less fortunate. Because of this high susceptibility, children are more likely to acquire

issues revolving around their health and adverse development outcomes. Poverty often leads to

the youth not being able to eat three meals a day, which is not enough to sustain their daily

nutritional needs. Children raised in impoverished neighborhoods show different types of

malnutrition are more likely to harm those who are poor. Malnutrition also slows economic

growth, lowers productivity, and raises health care expenses, which can feed a vicious cycle of

illness and poverty.

Young children around the age of 5-8 years old are less informed regarding the right

procedures of proper hygiene training. Since they know less about hygiene, they barely give

importance to the possible effects that they might acquire if they disregard their own

cleanliness. This makes them more prone to diseases and infections, especially given that

children are ignorant and messy. In addition to health impacts, poor hygiene can also result in

bullying, social rejection, a lack of confidence, and a low sense of self-worth.

With these consequential issues in mind, we came up with a program revolving around

hygiene and nutrition to tackle the said problems. The proposed project is a cost-effective

solution which is beneficial not only to the children, but to the society. This activism would also

be a symbol of the willingness of the students of Panpacific University to be a facilitator of

change and leadership, showing concern to the community.

Justification of the project

In an effort to help the youths in disadvantaged situations, we must vigorously push for

more human resource development programs and leadership capability building activities. One

common problem in our community is food. Almost every Filipino are suffering hunger and are
starving to death, also poor member of families or needy people. Handwashing promotion is an

important part of hygiene projects in WASH, health, nutrition, education, and other sectors.

Benefits derived from the project

Coverage

This project would encourage youth ages 5 to 8 to practice appropriate hygiene and

nutrition. It would encourage the nurturing of members of society who could participate in

nation building. The group believes that the health of society or the nation's people is an

important role in nation development that must be addressed.

Methodology

Ask the barangay officials to look after the feeding program and hygiene kits

implementation. We’ll schedule a meeting to go over the supplies and additional funding we’ll

need for our program. We will seek immediate Barangay Captain’s or Barangay Officials’

consent before implementing our program into action.
