Lesson 2

Repeat Marks/Signs

1. Repeat sign – it means that the music is to be repeated from the beginning. It is represented
by two dots before a double bar.

2. Volta Brackets – it means that the passages between the marks are to be repeated.

3. Da Capo(D.C.) – indicates that the musical piece is to be repeated from the beginning of the
composition. It means” from the top” .

4. D.C. al. Fine – means that the section is to be repeated from the beginning up to the word ”Fine” or
up to the end.

5. D.S. Dal Segno –indicates that the musical piece is to be repeated from the sign . It means
”from the sign”.”
