Lesson Plan in Math

The document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students how to construct horizontal bar graphs. It includes objectives, subject matter, procedures, and activities for students. The teacher guides students through tallying favorite seasons, creating a table to organize the data, and then making a horizontal bar graph to visually represent the results. Students work in groups to practice this by tallying data on colors or subjects and creating their own bar graphs.

Group 2, how about to your group do
we have absentees today?

Incredibly good. We do not have any

absentees today.

B. Review
In our last discussion, you have Yes teacher.
learned about the pictograph, do you
remember about pictograph?
A pictograph is a way to represent data using
Can someone identify the pictograph? images. Each image in the pictograph
represents a certain number of things.

Yes, excellent, the pictograph represents data

that contain images/ pictures.
Again, I will show a pictograph then we will Yes, teacher, we are ready.
connect it to our lesson today.

This is a pictograph and then we have here

favorites food of kids.

spaghetti.
Ok good (stamp)
How many kids love spaghetti?
There are eight kids who love chicken joy!
Good! (stamp)
And last the chicken how many kids love it?
Wow, a particularly good class!

Now we proceed to our topic for today it is

about Bar graph. Are you ready for class?

C. Motivation
Let us have a quick activity. May I ask (Raising their hands)
all of you what is your favorite season? Can
you raise your hands if you choose your
favorites season?
Who loves sunny days?
Who loves rainy days?
Who loves cloudy days?
Who loves windy days?

I used to tally first, and then we will guide all

of you to how make bar graph, and this is the
result of student’s favorites season,

Sunny- 15
Cloudy-10
Windy-7 (Everyone participates and write the tally
Rainy-5 in the table)

Can someone tally the total of each season?

Write it on the table.
SEASONS TALLY TOTAL

Cloudy IIII IIII 10
Windy IIII II 7
Rainy IIII 5 We are glad to be teachers; we are ready
Total 37 to make bar graphs.

Very good class! Let give an applause.

I am glad that you can tally now, we proceed

to our bar graph.

Those tables and tally are significant

in our next lesson. Because today we are
going to make a bar graph and its importance
to know it.

D. Procedure
Before that, do you still remember our
last activity that we tried to tally? The
favorites season we will use it to our lesson.
Again, this is the tally.
SEASONS TALLY TOTAL
Sunny IIII IIII IIII 15
Cloudy IIII IIII 10
Windy IIII II 7
Rainy IIII 5
Total 37

On the board we will see the tally of

each season, I will start to make a bar graph
and I will explain the procedure to make it.
Let go! This is the step by step making bar
graph.
STEPS ON CONSTRUCTING A

BAR GRAPH
1. Decide on a title for your graph.
2. Label the vertical axis.
3. Label the horizontal axis.
4. Draw the vertical and horizontal axes
5. Write the data in vertical axis.
6. Write the frequency in horizontal axis.
7. Draw a bar to show the total for each data

values corresponding to each data category.

Ok class, are you learning about bar

There are any questions?

Ok great let have our groupings.
