Psycho 1

The document discusses the concept of self from different perspectives - philosophical, sociological, anthropological, and psychological. From the philosophical perspective, the self is seen as more than just the physical body, involving aspects like consciousness and rational choice. The sociological view is that social interactions and experiences significantly shape one's self-identity. Anthropologically, the self is influenced by biology, psychology, and culture, and is constructed through memories and cultural representations. Finally, psychology views the self as multifaceted, involving self-perception, social awareness, and the interaction of beliefs, perceptions, and behavior. The learner reflects on how each perspective provides insight into understanding the complex nature of the self.

Your personal learning goals based on the Philosophical perspective of
self being discussed. The following questions are basis in highlighting your
personal learning goals:
1. From your own point of view, what have you learned about the
concept of self in the Philosophical perspective?

 From a philosophical perspective, I’ve learned that the self is a

complex and multifaceted entity, tied to consciousness,
awareness, and rational choice. It's not merely the physical body
but involves the psyche or soul, emphasizing the intellectual and
ideal aspects.

2. Has it helped you assess yourself as an individual? In what way?

 This perspective has indeed helped me assess myself as an individual by

prompting contemplation on the nature of my being beyond the physical,
considering virtues, consciousness, and the battle between rationality
and desires. It encourages self-reflection and deeper understanding of
what constitutes my identity.

Your personal learning goals based on the Sociological perspective of

self being discussed. The following questions are basis in highlighting your
personal learning goals:
3. From your own point of view, what have you learned about the
concept of self in the Sociological perspective?

 From a sociological perspective, I’ve learned that self-identity

isn’t solely an innate aspect but is significantly shaped by social
interactions and experiences. Concepts like Mead’s “I” and “Me,”
Cooley’s idea of resembling others, Baudrillard’s influence of
societal factors, and Lanuza’s take on technology’s impact
collectively showcase the complex formation of one’s self
through societal dynamics.
4. Has it helped you assess yourself as an individual? In what way?

 This perspective has indeed helped me assess myself as an individual by

making me more aware of how societal influences, interactions, and
media can shape my identity. It’s made me reflect on the values and traits
I’ve adopted due to social expectations and how I might consciously align
or adjust my sense of self. Additionally, understanding the impact of
technology and media has encouraged me to find a balance between
digital interactions and genuine, meaningful connections in my life.

Your personal learning goals based on the Anthropological perspective
of self being discussed. The following questions are basis in highlighting
your personal learning goals:
5. From your own point of view, what have you learned about the
concept of self in the Anthropological perspective?
 I’ve learned that the concept of self in Anthropology
encompasses understanding the human condition in its cultural
context, recognizing the self as a complex entity influenced by
biology, psychology, and society. The self is not static and is
constructed through cultural representations and personal
memories.

6. Has it helped you assess yourself as an individual? In what way?

 It has helped me assess myself as an individual by making me more
aware of the cultural and social influences that shape my perception of
self. I understand that my self-concept is not isolated but interconnected
with my culture, relationships, and experiences. This understanding
encourages me to reflect on how these aspects impact my identity and
behavior.

Your personal learning goals based on the Psychological perspective
of self being discussed. The following questions are basis in highlighting
your personal learning goals:
7. From your own point of view, what have you learned about the
concept of self in the Psychological perspective?
 I’ve learned that the concept of self in psychology is
multifaceted, encompassing aspects like self-perception (I Self
and Me Self), self-structure (id, ego, superego), and self-
awareness (social awareness and social comparison). It involves
how we see ourselves physically, psychologically, and socially,
and how our beliefs and perceptions shape our actions and
interactions.

8. Has it helped you assess yourself as an individual? In what way?

 This understanding has helped me assess myself as an individual by
providing insight into how my perceptions, beliefs, and intentions
influence my behavior and interactions with others. Recognizing the
components of the self, such as the Me Self and the Ideal Self, has
encouraged me to reflect on my own self-concept and identify areas for
personal growth and alignment between my perceived, real, and ideal
selves.
