JAMES HUTTON
"The father of Modern Geology,Scottish
Naturalist".Scottish geologist,chemist,naturalist, and
originator of one of the fundamental principles of
geology-uniformitarianism,explains the features of
the earth's crust of natural processes over geologic
time.

CHARLES DARWIN
(Feb.12,1809-apr.19,1882)
Was an English Naturalist,geologist,and biologist.
He discovered the Theory of Evolution by natural
selection
He introduced his scientific theory that is branching
pattern of evolution resulted from a process he
called natural section.

ANDRIJA
MOHOROVICIC
Mohorovicic(1857-1936)
A pioneer developed the science of seismology in
early 20th century.Observe the seismic waves
that gave us the concept of the earth's
mantle.Also showed us that the earth are layered.
He was also trained in mathematics and physics
but get interested in meteorology. He determined
the boundary between the crust and the mantle
which is now called the Mohorovicic discontinuity.

BENO GUTENBERG
Guternberg prove the excistence of the earth core.
He recognized the P-wave shadow zone due to the
refraction and reflection of primary waves by the earth
molten core. He also discover the S-wave shadow zone
resulted from absorbtion of the secondary waves by the
liquid core.Information allowed him to calculate that the
earth core began 1800 mile(2880km),the core-mantle was
named after him and is know as the Guternburg
Discontinuity.
Also well know for contributing and editing the Handbuch
der Geophysik(Mitchell).

INGE LEHMANN
Discovered the inner core of earth in 1936 by using the
seismic wave data.
Originally trained in mathematics,working as a
seismologist in the mid-1920's and continued for
50years.
She is a seismology, Lehmann discontinuity is a abrupt
increase of P-wave and S-wave velocities at the depth
of 220 km(140 mi).

ALEXANDER
OPARIN
Was a soviet biochemist, his theory is all about the
origin of life and for his book "The Origin of Life".
He also studied biochemistry of material
processing by plants and enzyme reactions in
plant cells.
Oparin suggests that "life arose gradually from
inorganic molecules with (building blocks ) like
amino acids forming first and the combining to
make complex polymers.

STANLEY MILLER &


HAROLD UREY
Did an experiment to test the Oparin and Haldane's
ideas. They found that a the organic molecules could
be a spontaneously produced under reducing
conditions thought to resemble those early earth.
Stanley Miller performed an experiment that explains
what occured on primitive earth billion years ago.
They also observed the formation of the amino acids
and proteins, they demonstrate that the amino acid
are the important building blocks of biological
proteins.
