2. Proposed Eco – Tourism Resort (Free Form)
Design Problem:
To create a holistic and sustainable tourist destination that will promote Philippine Culture and
Architecture through its facilities and amenities and let them experience Philippine custom. The
project has to introduce a local amenity and integrate a very unique culture on the chosen
location. This will serve as a New Haven that will blend in the original environment for utmost
relaxation and tranquility of the guests while promoting the local tourism.

The tourist destination must:

• Have a local amenity/facility that is unique
to the chosen location and will promote
local tradition, culture and products.
• Incorporate minimum of 5 types of Tourism
Product.
• Fall into a 4 STAR category.

The tourist destination can be chosen from the following tourism products:
• Nature-based Tourism (Nature Recreation/ Adventure) - Relies on experiences directly related
to natural attractions and includes ecotourism, adventure tourism, extractive tourism, wildlife
tourism and nature retreats.
• Cultural Tourism - Refers to travel with the intent of experiencing and learning about the
culture of a country or region.
• Sun & Beach Tourism - Utilizes the aesthetic and environmental values of the beach. It also
combines water and land resources usage.
• Health, Wellness and Retirement Tourism - Maintain or enhance personal health and well
being, and wellness services focus on healing, relaxation or beautifying of the body that is
preventive and/or curative in nature.
• Cruise & Nautical Tourism - tourism niche that combines the whole of marine recreation
activities in destination shores and ports by offering facilities and services for dry land tourists,
cruisers and yachtsmen. In other words, all the on shore and off shore involving activities
• MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) Tourism - typically tourism
provision that is planned in advance and designed for large groups of people for particular
purposes. Mice tourism includes any types of travel for the purpose of a meeting(s). This ranges
from small meeting to large meetings.
• Leisure and Entertainment Tourism – Leisure industry is the segment of business focused on
recreation, entertainment, sports, and tourism (REST)-related products and services. Most
probably one of the widest part of the tourism industry which includes recreational, sports
activities. The bulk of this industry occurs indoors or onset and includes, film, television, public
performance, gaming industry amongst others.
• Diving and Marine Sports Tourism - It refers to marine and coastal-based sports presented as
tourist attractions around the waterfront. It can be defined as the attractions providing tourists
with marine and coastal-based activities as their principal focus.
• Education Tourism - Educational tourism can be defined as tourism that pursues educational
learning as a pretext for a trip, either learning knowledge (historical, cultural and social) or
learning a language more and more practiced every day. Education has used tourism as a tool
to complement learning, accumulating experiences from practice. This well-developed trend
and combined with new technologies is a good opportunity to implement this form of cultural
enrichment in primary school, compulsory and higher education.

Area Selection:
• Identify a space and study viability to build the facilities.
• Lot requirement: minimum 5 hectares up to 10 hectares.

Others:
• Shall follow the National Building Code of the Philippines
• Guided by the health and safety protocols for accommodation
• Consider the debt standards and guidelines for facilities and services issued by DOT.
